Kristen (Kwynn) gave me the idea to send invitations to famous people just for letters back in response. Any idea what I should say on the letter to send with the invitation? Kristen, if you're reading this, what did you say on the letter? Do you still have an exp. of what you sent? Oh... Here's the list of people we're sending them to: Mickie and Minnie President Obama McCain Stan Lee Beck Mike Tomlin Troy Polamalu Hines Ward Stephanie Meyer P.S. 2 MONTHS!!!!!!

You generally don't need a letter to explain, as most celebs get tons and tons of these and know what to send. So in most cases, you can just send the invitation. In the case of Tomlin, I did send a letter of explanation and received a letter back. You can also send a photo to be signed, but I didn't do that. I pretty much just said that we/FI is a big fan and we realize you will not attend the wedding, but wanted to send an invite in exchange for a keepsake or letter for our memory book. I then thanked them profusely and in the case of the Steelers, you have to send an SASE or you won't get anything back.HTH!

I sent one to Obama, but didn't get anything back... what a jerk!  I got a signed 8x10 picture of Mickey and Minnie though!!  They're way cooler than Obama anyways...I didn't send to anybody else.

I only sent one to Obama (like Kristin said, no explanation), and am slightly bitter that I haven't gotten ANYTHING back. Maybe it takes a while, but I sent it 4 months ago. :-/

I haven't gotten anything from Obama either, actually, now that I think of it!I sent it during the inauguration time and received nothing. So I sent another one after my wedding (which is what the official webpage says to do). Nothing.I read online recently that he's been swamped with them though. But I got Minnie and Mickey and we got "Newlywed" pins to wear when we took our mini-moon. Yay!

I was just about to say that the ones to the White House might take awhile.  The Politico article that Kwynn posted mentioned that they have had many, many wedding invites since he took office.

We are planning to include a small personal notes to say why we are inviting them (and not just because they are famous). For example, FI & I met at Oklahoma State so we are inviting Boone Pickens, the guy that donates a ton of money to their athletics dept. If it weren't for OSU athletics, we would never have met! :)Of course, I am finsihing my invitations this week and I very well might get to the point where I say f- it and just send an invitation with no note :)

I, too, am still awaiting a reply from Mr. and Mrs. Obama!
