Boudoir Shoot

So I keep hearing about boudoir sessions, and go back and forth between not caring about it, and reaaaally wanting to do one. I am on the fence because I have never really worn lingerie, and am just concerned about how my body will photograph. My FI always tells me I am beautiful and all that other good stuff, I am just worried about seeing it in print. I know that you do not necessarily have to be nude for them, but even in the lingerie I am worried. Any advice/thoughts?

 I guess I'm not the only one that feels this way. I go back and forth ALL the time...and I've been married for 5 months.  Unfortunately, I don't have any advice because I'm pretty much in the same boat.  But I think that if you find a good photographer that you're very comfortable with you should try it.

I really want to do this for our first anniversary (paper) but am struggling also.

Often they'll do your hair and makeup for you, and if you agree, airbrush your pics a little. I've heard they're really clever with lighting and poses.

Maybe see if you can talk to a couple photographers who do this in your area? good ones will make you feel comfortable straight away.

I've heard lots of people - on this board and others - do this, and I haven't heard anyone express regret at having them done. You don't have to be nude - you can be as dressed or as undressed as you like (people have been mentioning 40s glamour shots lately).

I definitely think finding a photographer that you're comfortable with will alleviate a lot of your fears. Along with finding lingerie that you love and feel great in :-)

I have one coming up and it will be my fourth session. I'm addicted!! I have used three different (female) photographers and felt comfortable with all of them. I find the session to be very empowering and I feel sexy as hell. When the pics come back there are always a few I don't like but the majority of them I love. I gather pictures from Maxim (there are boards on Pinterest, too) and show them to my photographer prior to the session. Last time I wanted to do one sitting on the floor with my knees covering my boobs with my ankles crossed but felt my fat rolls would show. My photog told me to trust her and she totally got the picture I wanted. I tell everyone to do it. Trust me, you will loooooove the pictures.

I think a good photog is really important.  It should be someone you are comfortable with.  I've seen some very tasteful plus size pictures on Pinterest.  You don't have to wear lingerie to be sexy.  You could wear boy shorts and a tank top, or a mens button down shirt.  Maybe he loves it when you wear one of his shirts.  There really are a lot of options and the right photog will help you feel confident in whatever you are comfortable wearing.

Thank you so much! My dress and Bolero are both from Alfred Angelo.  I had a great experience with them.  The dress style is 2034.  But I can't remember (or find) the style number for my bolero.

I am serioulsy considering doing this for my FI for his birthday this year.  I've done them before and a couple of glasses of wine helps!  But I know the photographer I am going to use and she's amazing.  Anyone got suggestions of web sites to go to for ideas, out side of pintrest?

I want to do this and I totally LOVE my photog, but I can't seem to find any outfits that I like and feel comfy in. plus, I feel so much fatter in everything lol

I am absolutely doing a budoir shoot and giving the album to my fiance on our wedding day! For anyone who feels uncomfortable..stop! You are grown women marrying men that ADORE you! They will LOVE the pics! It is so fun to get your hair and makeup done and find something you feel really beautiful in.

I am doing this too, and I HATE my body.  But I think the thing to remember is that he loves it.  Our men love us for who we are.....fluffy!!  LOL  The main thing is to be confident, even if you don't feel confident.  Try getting some props.  My FI works in a bank, so I'm going to get play money.  And I may snag one of his ties, too. 

Where have people sent these to be printed?  I would NOT want to got to ....oh say Wal-Mart and pick them up. LOL  I am thinking of getting them bound in a book by Shutterfly.

I went back and forth a lot before I found a Groupon (or whatever) for one and went ahead and bought it. I figure I'm not out much if I don't like it, and if I do, all the better. The hair and makeup is included.

I am doing a session in May. I have three outfits picked one. One I chose, one my bf chose, and one that's a surprise for him.

1) Fredericks leopard print bra, black boyshorts, satin black robe
2) red and black lace chamise, red boyshorts 
3) hockey jersey and black boyshorts

All with really high black heels.

Can't wait!

@ Amt2109 - I love the idea of your boudoir shots being your  "paper" for your 1st anniversary!!!  What a great idea!! I may steal this!!
