Longer list......

Good morning ladies!
Just wondering if anyone else thought they were in a great place with planning, and then wrote out a list of "to do's" and realized they had much more than they thought.
I wrote my list of "to do's" last night and became so anxious it was ridiculous.  Its not a lot of big stuff, but alot of little stuff.  I know I have 7+ months, but its coming sooooo fast.

Re: Longer list......

  • You will be fine - we planned our whole wedding in the amount of time you have left!  :)

  • On the DIY board people were posting lists of what they had left to DIY, so I made a list...and it is SUPER FREAKIN' LONG!

It made me panic for a minute that I couldn't possibly have enough time to do it all, but then I took a deep breath and reminded myself that I do a lot of the work that's left to be done professionally so it won't take me as long as it might take someone else.

I am starting to get irritated that FI hasn't worked on the few things I really need/want him to do (call caterers about food, call to get quotes from limo/bus places, hotel blocks etc), because I feel like we need to have that stuff booked and taken care of by now.

  • Yea, I get started on one task and realize there is a lot more to it that I want to do before I call it done.  Like I started addressing my invitations.  Easy enough you would think.  Nope, decided I should add a map.  And on the RSVP card I want to put the recipients names.  And I can't believe now many people have moved since I sent STDs! But it will all get done.

  • Try making a to-do list, and then when you cross stuff off and re-write it, somehow you add more than was on the original list!

I would just prioritize by what is most important and do that first.  less overwhelming that way.

  • I have this problem everytime I "redo" my "to do" list. I have big things done but it's all the little things that get me.
  • Glad to see its not just me... I think the problem is I was so driven to plan plan plan 7 months ago..... I lost my mojo and now I cant get it back.
  • YES...I am so stressed about everything I have left to do! My biggest unknown right now is the catering and the rentals, which I hope, hope, hope to have settled by the end of the month. *sigh* deep breaths and single steps and all thatUndecided

  • I think something that you don't learn until the end of your planning...all the little details mostly get done the month before the wedding.

Main details (dress, food, venue, photog, etc) I did 12-8 months in advance.  But details like place cards & centerpieces, I am not doing until now because I didn't know the number of people/tables.

I would just take a 5 month break and then you will be really into the planning!
