Getting into the swing of planning!

After being engaged for over 8 months... I'm FINALLY getting into the whole planning aspect of the wedding. So far, my mother has taken over every aspect of the wedding, which I haven't minded, but now I'm actually getting into the excited phase. 

Over the last 8 months, I only got 2 things accomplished. We booked our venue SUPER early. Over a year in advance. But they only do a couple weddings a year because it's technically a museum... so I didn't want to lose it. And I ordered my wedding dress. 

In the last week, I managed to knock out half of my checklist.

Booked our caterer. 

Bought all the cardstock for my DIY invites.

Figured out all of the table/chair linens. 

Picked out all of our plates, glasses, silverware, etc. (our venue has no kitchen, so everything has to be disposable. Smartyhadaparty.com = absolutely amazing)

Finalized my colors.

Finalized the wedding colors.

Bought some decorations.

Scheduled engagement pictures.

BOOKED THE PHOTOGRAPHER. (This one is HUGE for me. Its the one thing I cared about most. I found a photographer I really liked a couple months ago, and have been trying to come up with the deposit money since. Then I checked groupon yesterday. There was a groupon for this photographer... $399 for their $1200 package. AMAZING. I jumped all over that.)

So basically, I'm super excited, and totally pumped about planning now. I'm sure my mom is now happy that I'll actually talk wedding with her, lol.

Yea!  Good job with all those checks! It's definately starting to feel more real now that it is 2012.

Great checks!!! I was in full swing 8 months ago when we first got engaged.  I needed to step away from the whole planning process, and now I just keep thinking of how quickly the last 8 months went by, and I only have 8 to go.... I better get in gear!!!!!!

I did the same thing!!! we set a date last june, and now that its 7 monthsaway instead of 14 i am all about getting everything done!! And Thankyou for hooking us up with that website! i am doing disposable too and they have some really great options

I'm from the Lansing area too, may I ask what photog you are using? So exciting to get a groupon for something wedding related!!

I am just about 2 months away for my wedding, so now comes the all the little stuff. Thats the hardest part for me. I don't care about the mindless little things and really would be ok with someone else taking care of it all. I am to the point now that I am just ready to get married already. The planning was fun for me at first but not so much now.

wow, that is some serious wedding planning production. I think our year-long engagement has worked pretty perfectly for me- the date's close enough that I can plan things steadly and not feel to early or too rushed.

justdance, your furbaby is beautiful! My Sammy (the orange one) loves hanging out in the sink- luckily, our place has a 1/2 bathroom where we keep their litterbox and that's "his" sink.

<div>Thank you! Sammy is also adorable. I've always wanted an orange cat, but I can't help but adopt the black cats since they're 2x more likely to get put down in shelters than any other cat. :( It just breaks my heart. Hopefully one of these days I'll get an orange cat!</div>

My cat used to hang out in the sink.. until we had to replace our bathroom floor / kitchen ceiling (downstairs from the bathroom) because he left the faucet on all day..... lol
