Sexy lingerie

One of my BM's, mind you who is very opposite of plus size, made a comment on how she wouldn't think a plus size bride would be getting sexy lingerie at her showers or bachelorette parties because she didn't think I would be "willing" to advertise what size I need.

UMMM, Excuse me? I am hoping to eventually lose weight for health reasons, but I don't mind sharing where I'm currently at! I'm not ashamed of my body or the fact I need a 3X babydoll or a 44 DD bra. I know no one is required to buy me anything, but why should I be excluded because I'm plus size?

Needless to say, I corrected her and shared my sizes, if she wanted to get a risqu gift. My plus size BM has been glaring at her in spirit ever sense.

Has there been anything that you've been told is out of the question because your plus size?

I probably would have been upset too but she probably didn't mean to be hurtful.  Some people especially smaller people don't realize they are insulting when they say things like that.  And really what does she think will happen if you get any plus size lingerie at your shower.  One of your guests will suddenly realize you're not a size 2 when you hold the sexy lingerie up!! It was a stupid comment on her part but try to brush it off because sometimes you just can't fix stupid.

I would have asked what gave her the inclination that I am not confident in the skin that I am in! You were that size yesterday and today is no different!  I understand that she is a friend, but even some friends need to be set straight for future references!!!

Grab me something from Hips and Curves any day!!!! LOL

Ouch.  A BM, nonetheless!  I agree with LuckyGirl, that maybe she didn't even realize what she had said was hurtful.  But,  with that being said I have a co-worker who is "little", as she likes to say, and she says makes comments ALL the time.  Not directly to me, but in general.  Mind you, just about my entire office is plus size.  She has in her warped 'little' mind, that if you are over a size 6 or 8, you have no purpose in life...you might as well not exist!  LOL.  I want to smack her (and really hard) but then one day I realized she has absolutely no self-esteem.  Not saying that's the issue with your BM, but you never know how another person's mind works.

Anywho, I would love to get lingerie at my shower (if I'm thrown one).  My hunny-bunny LOVES my big booty!  LOL.

Mine says he loves my "ASSets" and "the girls", patting each in turn as he says it. All of my close friends struggle with weight issues, even the smallersized ones, and I can't imagine any of them saying anything. Good for you for keeping your cool! I hope one of them throws me a lingerie shower just for fun, though I might be a bit embarrassed. My FI would love it!
