Belly Issues!

I have a pretty big stomach..and when I wear the stapless bra that has a corset attached to it at davids bridal, my bottom of my belly looks like a spare tire still..if not worse. you cant see it because of how my wedding dress is made but I think and I feel it. I think Ill feel better if I could find something to help me with that bottom tire lol...I dont want to wear a high waste gurdle because I think Im guna struggle if I have to go pee?! lol I havent bought the strapless bra with the corset attached to it at davids bridal yet because Im hoping Ill find something much better and breathable. I feel like when I sit down with it on all of my weight is pushed up and my belly is making the corset roll? HELP! Embarassed

Re: Belly Issues!

  • The "corset" bra DB showed me was a long-line bra, that didn't cover all of my stomach.  I hated it for the same reason - I have a big belly, and it pushed up the bottom of the corset.

My BM wears real corsets from time to time.  They go lower than the DB long-line bra.  She knows my body pretty well, and still recommends I try one.  She actually says they do the most for big girls, because we have enough raw material to rearrange into some pretty fantastic curves.  I haven't bought one yet, but I plan on trying it out.

  • I had one of those same long-line bra/corset things from DB.  I just got a pair of Spanx from Target and fitted them over the corset, so everything was completely smoothed out.  It made me more comfortable all day, too. More support for the bra and all that jazz. (The Spanx go on and off just like underwear, so it wasn't an issue for going to the bathroom at all either.)
  • Just try to find a longer corset bra instead of the one at DB. Or just wear a strapless bra without the corset attached. I think that's what I will be doing.
  • Try SPANX or what the others have suggested
  • I'm going with a waist cincer to hold in the lower belly.  It is a seperate piece that goes from just under the bra to the hip area.  I got mine at Macy's.

  • +1 to the SPANX.  Even if you don't necessarily need it to suck things in, Spanx smooths things out and that;s a BIG plus.  No VPL, or anything like that.  I occasionally watch Fashion Police and man does Kelly Osbourne go on and on about this.  Even for small women!  There are Spanx with a pee hole, however I never trust it and take them on and off like underwear :)
  • Thanks Ladies! I will be buying me some SPANX! :-) also I might check out the waste cincer! you guys are so helpful!!!

I also tend to carry ALL of my weight in the front of my stomach and it makes me look like I have no curves where I should. I got a dress that has a corsette on the inside, so you can't see it on the outside and it is amazing. I tried it on with a bra and body shaper and it was a disaster. The corsette and tight fit of the dress allows for a lot of cinching and the weight doesn't go anywhere else but i. I find that spanx do smooth things, but don't give me any shape at all. See if they can maybe put one inside of your dress or try this little baby. Not comfortable, but does the trick, big time!

I hate to be a broken record, but i plan on having spanx under my longline bra from DB.  It's got a hole...sounds weird, but makes going the bathroom a cinch.  :)

I love my corset, however, you do need to keep in mind how the corset will rearrange you. I would suggest an underbust corset and a strapless bra. An overbust will create a very dramatic shelf. Also keep in mind that sitting in a corset will change the way you sit. I have a front lace corset that has fiberglass rods that run along the lacing and while I actually find my corset very comfortable to wear, sitting and other maneuvers can sometimes prove...interesting. If you do wind up getting one, ease yourself into wearing it, i.e. a few minutes to start and work your way up, and make sure you wear it enough in the weeks preceding your wedding so that you can be sure you're going to be comfortable. Corset wear is not recommended with a cold or bad cough. At least in my book. But I have to admit, my corset does AMAZING things for my waist.
