Vendor Rant (LONG)

With a little over 4 weeks to go, I am SICK of dealing with certain vendors lack of professionalism and customer service. My reception is at St. Nicks in Oakland.  If anyone is familiar with the venue, you know it has 22ft high ceilings and is pretty much a blank canvas to work with.I hired a decorator to do chair covers and overlays, hang paper lanterns, bring in trees, etc. I have had nothing but trouble getting in contact with them or getting them to respond to phone calls when I have had questions.  If they were not familiar with the facility and had the equipment and the knowledge how to hang the lanterns from the ceilings at St Nicks, they would be fired by now.I have to take time off work tomorrow because they will be there setting up for a wedding and I need to bring them the extra lanterns that I bought. Also because since the owner wont call me back (she works during the day), I have to go there in person to deliver the lanterns and talk to her about a few changes that need made.  I'm upset that I have to take off work -I could just drop the lanterns off at St Nicks, but since she wont get back to me, I have to go there and talk to her.  I am disappointed in the sheer lack of customer service this vendor has.  I called yesterday to check and see what time they would be at St Nicks, the husband answers the phone and doesn't know.  He says he would have his wife try to get back to me with a definite time. WTF!!!!!  I said that I was upset that I had left numerous messages for his wife and she never called me back. I said that its very frustrating trying to deal with them when I cant get an answer.  He just laughed and said that his wife is so busy and try dealing with a bunch of brides! Sorry to be ranting, but this has been bothering me and I wanted to get it out. I am going there tomorrow morning and will go into work late.  I am definitely telling the wife how unhappy I am with their customer service.  They do beautiful work, but their customer service SUCKS!!!!!!!  Wish me luck!!

That stinks.  There is no excuse for not calling you back.  Everyone who works is busy, but if noone called their clients back, everyone would switch companies.  To me that is jsut a lack of professionalism.  I hope it all works out for you and I'm sure your wedding will be beautiful....hang in there!

Ditto to what pp said. That's ridiculous they are not calling back. Yes, they are busy (be thankful in this economy!) and yes, they have other weddings to prepare for. That is NOT your problem. I think you should feel like you are their only client - which is what I think for pretty much any vendor. GL!!

He just laughed and said that his wife is so busy and try dealing with a bunch of brides! This would HIGHLY piss me off! Um, no you don't laugh if off when a customer is unhappy! GL, try not to kill anyone! :-P Just think, at least you are nearing the end of having to deal with them!

What horrible service!  and for the husband to say that to you!  I hate when vendors assume that because you are a bride you are a bridezilla.  Sometimes I get the impression that when I have a question or need even a small change, the vendor is rolling their eyes like "Oh, here comes bridezilla".Good luck--stay calm but firm and let the owner know that you know she's busy but you need to work out a way in which you can get in touch with her when you need questions answered.
