Plus-Sized

Athletic Apparel

Hi ladies!  Just wondering if anyone has any store/website recommendations for finding plus sized athletic clothing??

I'd like to upgrade to some of that nice sweat-wicking material, but I'm finding most of these shirts to be really tight and/or short (I've tried Champion and Reebok so far, because I love their sports bras, but to no avail).  I like my workout clothes on the longer/baggier side to hide my tummy.

Thanks!

Re: Athletic Apparel

  • Have you tried Target?  I like all of their workout stuff and it seems to fit pretty well.  Also, Old Navy online for their PS stuff, like this:

  • To be honest, I wish i had a fancier stporty brand to suggest
but I get all my work out stuff from Old Navy. I am an XXL in Old navy stuff so i can buy in store- but of course, they have stuff available online as well in more extended sizes.

I just got two nice sports bras from there (buy one get one 1/2 off)
and they have those compression pants t hat are great.

Otherwise, all my workout stuff is a mish mash and I am no help.

  • Lane Bryant carries some workout apparel. I usually buy from there.
  • I shop Old Navy for work out clothes too.  I haven't tried the new compression clothing, it looks too form fitting for me, but I love their yoga pants and sports bras.  I just wear normal cotton tshirts.

  • Kohls has a great selections of "bottoms" although I have not found any shirts there that I like (they are all too form fitting for my liking).  I just wear my Kohls bottoms with t-shirts :)

  • sorry, I'm of no help either! I shop Old Navy for workout clothing because it's cheap cheap cheap and I don't even have to leave my apartment to order it!

Unless you're working out by like, running outside in the cold & snow, you can probably get away with not spending tons of money on "specialty" workout clothing...

  • I've bought yoga pants at ON and sports bras from Lane Bryant. I generally wear tshirts from either ON or walmart.  I'm like entropicbeauty....cheap cheap cheap!!  :)

  • I usually go to Walmart and shop the men's section just because they are not as form fitting as women's clothing. You could try some where like Academy or Bass Pro. I don't know if you have any of them close to you. I know Bass Pro and Academy have bigger sizes in some things.
  • I love Old Navy for their yoga pants!  I guess I was hoping there was a magical manufacturer that I don't know about that makes running shirts for large-breasted beauties like me.  They're always so damn short and tight.  I work out with a personal trainer twice a week and started running, as well, so my plain cotton t-shirts aren't making the cut anymore (aka they stink and get really hot)

  • I have some great stuff from Lands End.

  • titlenine.com has some great (and super supportive) sports bras with the wick fabric.  I found if I wore one of those it helped my shirts not get so sticky (etc).  They go up to DD - they aren't pricey but they are really good quality!

  • I agree with PP.  I LOVE Old Navy.  Nike is great too.  I have a few of their yoga pants.  Victorias Secret's "boyfriend" pants are also VERY comfy.  But they're a little on the expensive side.

  • Have you tried a men's running shirt?  The sizing tends to be longer at least.  It might not be as cute, but might serve the purpose you are looking for.
