XP Alfred Angelo 6471 BM dress Help

First, let me apologize if anyone takes offense to this post, although I hope you don't I'm only trying to make my BM's comfortable. TIA

I went shopping with my BMs last night and everyone really likes this dress. Unfortunately only 3 were able to try on the sample :( The shop didn't have one in a size bigger than 14 and the 2 other girls are a 20 and an 18. Anyway, my question, has anyone either tried on this dress in a larger size or seen it on someone who wears a larger size? If so, how did it look? We are going to add thicker straps to all the dresses and a privacy panel to the bust so that it has more support and coverage, but they were worried about the skirt.
Thanks!

Re: XP Alfred Angelo 6471 BM dress Help

  • This dress could be tricky. Depending on the body type of the girls and where they carry their weight, this dress could be perfect or a complete disaster. I would call another AA and ask if they have the dress in a size larger than 14. I'm actually shocked that 14 is the largest they had.

If the BM's arent comfortable with the dress, another option is to go with different styles, same frabric and color. I did this for my bridal party with AA dresses and it worked out perfectly.

  • I totally agree with pp.  It depends on body type.  My DD is a size 20 but she is 5'10.  She can get by wearing this.  What you need to be careful about it this type of dress can really "chop" up someong wearing it.  It has straps, a high waisted ribbon, multiple layers of flowing type material and a off-cut hemline.  I would not purchase this untill the size 18 and 20 girls try this on and they are comfortable and you see if you like how it looks on.
  • I have a few plus size girls and they tried this dress on.  I personally thought that it looked nice on them, but I hate the design of the dress with it being different lengths.  Plus or regular size it is just awkward looking IMO.

  • That dress is definitely really tricky. I personally think that adding thicker straps and a modesty panel would ruin the integrity of the dress and take away the reasons one would like it in the first place. That type of dress would never ever work on me (I'm an 18 and 5'3"), high-low hems on dresses just look super awkward on me and make me look even shorter.

I'd really look into seeing if any other AA in your area has a sample closer to their sizes. Otherwise, I'd look at different styles.
