Hi all. I have started The Great Dress Search. Here in Vermont, I'm a wee bit limited in the local supply of plus sized gowns that fall within my budget. Well, really, I'm limited in a local supply of plussized gowns, period. Really, the local store I went ot had me in a bunch of dresses that were the same basic satin ballgown, with various levels of beading and bling. Don't get me wrong, some of them were really pretty, just not so much what I was looking for.
I ended up at a David's Bridal on Friday and found 2 gowns that I like a lot. I keep hearing about that 'Aha!' moment you're supposed to get when you find the dress. So far, that hasn't happened for me, but then again, I've never been that into clothes shopping.
Really, I don't think I'd be unhappy with either of these gowns. They're certainly a lot poofier than I thought I'd end up with, but they're pretty and fairly comfotable.
So, here we go. Dress 1 is an Oleg Cassini. www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Strapless-Lace-and-Tulle-Ball-Gown-8CWG352_Bridal-Gowns-Shop-By-Size-Plus-Sizes" target="_blank">Here's the link to the dress from the David's Bridal website. I love the lace and the color. It has the sort of Victorian thing I was going for (FH and I just watched Young Victoria last weekend, so it's been on my mind).

Dress 2 is a Galina. Again, www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Beaded-Tiered-Tulle-Gown-with-Sweetheart-Neckline-9SWG9902_Bridal-Gowns-Shop-By-Size-Plus-Sizes" target="_blank">here's the link to the dress on the DB site. This dress isn't as lacey, but I really liked the layers of tulle. There's also crystals between each layer, which gives the dress some nice subtle sparkle. It is very, very, poofy, and ends up more princess-y than Victorian. This dress is also a size smaller than the first dress, meaning that it looks great, but is a bit tight feeling. The lady at the store suggested adding a corset back to this dress to give me a little extra room, and bring in a little color with the lacing.

I really am torn between these dresses, and I welcome any thoughts and opinions. Dress #1, Dress #2, or keep looking?
