Re: Couch to 5K Question for Sara0147

  • The Getting in Shape board is also an excellent place to post this question - lots of the ladies there have done or are currently doing Couch to 5K.

  • I know I'm not Sara0147, but I'm actually working through it too, and dumb question, but when you run, do you hit the ball or heel of your foot first?

<div>Aww. Don't feel uncomfortable!  We don't bite over on the GIS board.</div><div>
    </div><div>
    </div><div>Much.</div><div>
    </div><div>
</div><div>How are your shoes?  Some of the ladies on the gIs board who have had running/workout pain have had great success (myself included) with getting properly fit for shoes at a running store.  Everyone's foot can be different and add that to individual stride, weight, pronation... you might benefit from it.</div><div>
    </div><div>If that's not it: </div><div>
</div><div>*Get a foam roller.  They're great as a pre and post massage aid that's really helped my muscle recovery.
*make sure you're not leaning forward too much when you run</div><div>*When in pain pre-run.. just don't.  It's not worth hurting yourself more.  If you're not sure whether it's just burn or pain, err on the side of caution please.</div><div>*post workout pain can benefit from icing the leg while elevating.</div><div>*I have a pair of calf compression sleeves that really seem to help me when my muscles are not up to snuff or trying to torture me with shin splints.  just an idea.</div><div>
    </div><div>Good Luck!</div>
  • Thanks a bunch... i am going to need a trip to a real shoe store :) it as so bad the other morning i was crying on the treadmill
