Entertainment Books - Worth it?

Hi Ladies - Since I know so many of you are money-savvy, I thought I'd get your opinion on Entertainment books.  Are they worth the cost?I can get the 2009 one for free (yes, I realize we're already halfway through 2009) if I reserve my 2010 copy.  So, that's kinda like getting 1.5 books for the price of 1!  Haha. The only problem is that the 2010 price isn't set yet (guessing it's because it's not completely put together yet), and is estimated at between 25-50 bucks.  So, is it worth that much?TIA for your opinions :)

I always get the entertainment book, and love it.  After using a couple coupon, it pretty much pays for itself.  I've never paid $50 for it though, I think it's usually around $20.

Mine was a gift and we used one coupon since December, so I'm not sure if it is worth it for us. We just go to our favorite places to eat and none of them are in the book. My short answer would be 'no' for us, but it depends if you want to try new places.

I have a local MD one and we use it a lot.  Ours also has grocery store coupons and we use it for a lot of area attractions.  I think we've used it every single time we have ordered pizza this year!  The only issue with mine is that some of the large chain coupons you can only use at like one location in the state.  For example, the only Subway one is like 40 minutes away.  I just think that if Subway is in there, it should be for all of them!  I won mine for free though, but I'm thinking of renewing it next year too.  And Colleen, thanks for the idea!  I need to go to the dry cleaners, I should look in there for one nearby!  :)

I just bought this year's for $7.99 last week. It's only good until November, then the 2010 will take over. We had one a few years back and probably got our money's worth. I hope to use more of the fun coupons this time (movies, museums, etc.). I think they're usually $30. So $30 for both is a good deal, IMO. I agree with KR, though...the chains are usually only good for one location. You have to look at the fine print for that. :-(

We got one a few years ago, and it was a waste of money for us.  We only ended up using a few coupons, and definitely didn't make the money back.Does anyone you know have one that you could look through?  Maybe then you can decide if you would actually use the coupons or not.

You may be able to look through the coupons online without buying it, too.  I know I was looking for something on the website, found the coupon, and then realized I couldn't get it because it was for the central MA book, not the boston one.  That' might help with the decision too if you don't know someone with one you can flip through.

I had one last year and I think it was worth it.  Especially if you have family in different areas of the city, you can always give them the coupons to places you don't think you'll go to.

I think our was $30, but we got some sort of discount for pre-ordering or something (I don't know, FI paid for it). I think it is worth it, we like to try out new restaurants so it is a nice way to do that.

I don't even live in Pittsburgh yet I buy one every year and it's worth it.  I come home once a month and my friends are always dying to go out to eat, go to the movies, etc.  So I use a coupon everytime.  The ones you can use with the card for BOGO make it TOTALLY worth it!

I think it is. We had one and used a couple of those "buy one meal get the other free/half off" at sit down restaurants and it paid for itself. Plus way back in the day lol, they had GREAT deals on Pens tickets, movie tickets(still do) and and now still have tickets to museums and the Science Center and things like that, I believe my mom has one this year and she wants to go to the Melting Pot for her birthday and there is a $20 off or 20% off coupon in there, and you know that will be worth the coupon! I think you will like it! We always liked to try new things instead of always the same old same old.
