Confused on Jewelry

I was wanting something to go with my dress. It's the cinderella one from Alfred Angelo. Has alot of sparkle in the ball of the gown, and crystalsl in the sweetheart top in the center. I want to have a necklace and earrings and quite possibly a bracelet. I dont know what style to go with. My tiara is wide, silver and has alot of diamonds from left to right. Any suggestions on where to look? I also don't want to spend $400 on jewelry, but my hopes are so low, I feel like I might have to take that road to get something big and noticeable without trying to take too much away from the dress. :( Help?!Undecided

Re: Confused on Jewelry

  • I found a really good site that sells the same stuff that you would get in a bridal store for waaaaaaay less. I don't have the link on my phone but I'll try to post it for you when I get home. As or style, you might want to go with something less sparkly since your dress and tiara are blingy out. Simple pearls maybe?
  • this is just my opinion, but i think with the amount of sparkle in that dress, a necklace, earrings, and a bracelet might be too much. personally i'd do a necklace and stud earrings, and a small bracelet if you wish.

i got my necklace from macy's, and it was quite sparkley. if you're on a budget, you could look places like claire's or even target for nice things- let's be honest, they need to look nice in pictures and for one day.
i can help you find things online if you would like- do you was just sparkles, or pearls as well? for necklaces, do you like ones closer to your neck or longer? do you like the ones that come to a Y shape?

  • Have you tried Etsy?  I got the inspiration for my jewelry from Etsy (my dad made it, if he wasn't into that stuff, I absolutely would have bought my stuff from Etsy), and also found my headband there.  There is so much stuff, and the prices tend to be much better.

  • I got mine here:

I thought that had great prices & i love my set (though i'm only planning on wearing earings and bracelet).

  • Ditto J&K. And if you can find something close to what you like, but not perfect, usually a seller will work with you to make exactly what you're looking for. That's where I got all of my jewelry for our wedding, and it was perfect.

  • Etsy is awesome.  I've not had a single problem, and all my sellers were so accomodating, helpful, and generous!  (I got something free with almost all my orders.)

And?  Not to argue just for the sake of argument, I promise, but even though your dress and everything else is already sparkly, I subscribe to the "when else will you be able to reflect so much of the sun in your life?" policy.  I say if you want sparkly, do it.  Unless it truly does look gaudy (I wouldn't have gigantic anything, but sparkle is still fine!), I think it's hard to overdo it on your wedding day.

  • Yes, definitely look at etsy. You'll get some great ideas from there. My brother found some great pearls for his girlfriend for Christmas, and they weren't too expensive, so I'd say etsy is affordable. Good luck!

    1. that's amazing.
    2. i totally see what you're saying. see, in my head it was sparkle overload and all terrible gaudy pieces. but if OP wants sparkle, sparkle on!

  • Yes, sparkle overload is absolutely possible.  I would stick to smaller sparkly pieces for sure, not gaudy--but hey, some people ARE gaudy jewelry people (that sounds mean, I swear I don't mean it meanly...some people love big costume jewelry and can pull it off great) and if that's their style, then I think they should be "them" on their wedding day, even if I wouldn't do it.

People told me I shouldn't have long or sparkly jewelry with my dress, but I did, and I don't think it was too much at all (but my pieces were smaller, though still sparkly and fairly elaborate for what they were).

  • If you're going to go for more bling to go with your blingerific dress, I would recommend trying to find a similar style that matches and compliments. There are definitely different kinds of sparkly so you'll want to make sure they agree with eachother :)

  • Definitely recommend Etsy. I get basically all of my jewelery from there. And also so far I have gotten my earrings for the wedding and my bracelet from Etsy:)

The store owners there are wonderful.

  • A bride after my own heart, I LOVE sparkle!

Have you tried Icing? (yes, the crappy little teenager jewelry store) They make lines of prom jewelry that are beautiful, well made, and CHEAP! I have a pretty scalloped-looking faux-diamond necklace from there that I paid 15 dollars for, and I have been asked 5 times weather it is a family heirloom! A lot of their stuff is in sets too, so you could totally find a matching bracelet, earing, and necklace, for under 50 dollars total.
  • Thank you ALL for your ideas!!! Your all great women and very helpful!!! I got my Tiara from Wedding Factory Direct. I was nervous getting it because there are NO refunds, but thankfully I liked it. I THINKKKK I looked on Etsy for jewelry, but I will look again. Yes I agree, I don't want to get pieces that might clash or look gaudy. I have a pair of earrings I love, but I just dont know if it goes well with my dress, So im looking for sets. I figure that's easier because both earrings and necklace were meant to match. I got overwelmed trying to find pieces that would go nicely with each other and it turned out to be a complete bust. :(

this.  Your dress is gorgeous- let it be your main accesory.  obviously you want to wear some jewelry but I think you can go pretty modest so it doesn't distract from the dress (just MO of couse)

and my modest- I mean super sparkley but maybe not too big - I love bling and sometimes the small bling sparkles the brightest!

  • Here is my tiara and the jewelry I picked. Sorry for the yellow of the picture. (using my iTouch) but its all silver with diamonds.
  • I third?/fourth?/fifth? Etsy. You can find some really great jewelry on there for much less than the bridal salons. I agree with PPs that if your dress is really blingy, to make sure your jewelry is not really blingy, too. It can be too much.
  • I think that`s plenty of sparkle!!!
And i LOVE sparkle... Just ask Jmo. hahahah

You ladies are really funny and cute! Thank you for your imput. I was just concerned that these pieces didn't quite match and go nicely together.
