Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh

This is random, but...

where you work, do people put their degree after their name in their e-mail signature? For example:Joe Schmo, M.A.A lot of people do that here but I've never worked anywhere else where that was common. I don't know, I don't have "M.S." after my name, I don't tihnk it makes a difference.Just wondering. I noticed a co-worker who I hate now has "MBA" after her name.

nope, i rarely see it, if ever. but then, i also usually see emails from attorneys. none of them need to attach JD after their names. doctors & nurses. but other than that...... could be the field i'm in though. i might see it if i were doing something else. I WISH I WAS DOING SOMETHING ELSE.

You should probably add kbielak17, Ultimate AW/PW to your signature.

Ummmm...please, please, please don't take this the wrong way, I'm not being snobbish, but all of the Ph.D.s have theirs, but none of our masters or bachelors.  It may be though because our positions are more supervisory.  At the two universities that I teach at, the adjuncts with masters do not use their degrees after their names either.

No. I think I mostly see people use it in academic settings.I think it's pretentious and annoying. I have a Master's but so does everyone and their mother these days.

I understand having PhD, but now a days a lot of people have a Master's, it's not really "special."

Not in my field.  But I think that's annoying for e-mails.

I'm just glad I'm not the only one who is annoyed by this. I just don't get the point. I don't think anyone really cares if the PR specialist has a MBA. She's a dumb as a rock so I'm not even sure how she got it.

I have worked in academia for the past three years, and people do include in their signature, on their business cards, etc. It could vary by field....but in academia it is common. Personally, after I earned my MS, hell yeah I included it in my signature. I worked hard for it....why shouldn't I include it?

i think it might be because this board is all puppies and rainbows and no one wants to say what they're really thinking.  maybe they think they're taking the high road while you on the other hand are sinking to my level.
