I have spent the last few hours reading on this board and I love it. I wanted to introduce myself. I am Stephanie I'm 28 and I'm getting married Ocotber 27, 2012. I live in New hampshire and I work for a community mental health agency. Hmm not sure what else to share but...I'm a vegan, I have 3 cats and I love to read. I love the X-Files and Glee.
My wedding is Halloween themed. We have tons of Halloween stuff already as I've been buying since we got engaged last February. I'm asking guests to come in costumes and my maids are going to wear witch hats . The groomsmen will be vampsires. We love Halloween and are going all out with our theme. We tend towards the offbeat side.
I am plus sized. I'm a 18/20 in most pants and an xl/1x in shirts. My groom is bigger as well. Which is great since he makes me feel small. I've always been bigger. Ideally I'd like to be a size 12 or so but it's a process.
On Friday I went to a bridal salon near where I lived and tried on dresses for the first time. I brought one of my bridesmaids with me ( only one who is local) and it was a great experience. I tried on probably 15 dresses all but a few were way too big ( which was a wonderful feeling)...I think I found THE dress. Its Maggie Sottero's Kirstie and I LOVE it. I might go to a few other shops but I am 90% sure this is THE dress ( I tend to be a quick decision maker ...my car is the only one I looked at for example) The sample I tired on was a size 24 I believe and the sales girl though I needed at least a size down. The corset was tightened all the way and it was clipped. I was very surprised how great the experience was condsiering I typically have a really hard time shopping. I am trying to slim down a bit and plan to go back in Feb. to order the dress.
Anyway sorry for the novel.
I'm happy to be here!
