Bridal Salons

Hi Ladies, I'm looking for ideas on different bridal salons in Southern Maine. I've gone to Madeleine's Bridal in Portsmouth, NH and I found some dresses I really like but I'd like to look at some other places before I make a decision. I'm going to Andrea's Bridal in Portland next Friday and I really don't want to go to the big box stores like David's. Any ideas you can give me will be greatly appreciated!!!

Bridals by Sandy in Alfred, ME is a nice place. I got my dress from Madeline's Daughter.

I don't know what your budget is like, but Spoil Me Rotten in Falmouth is a really nice place. One person posted on here that she went there and found that their cheapest gown was $2400 and looked like a nightgown, but I went to see them when they were still located in the Old Port and they said they carried a line of more inexpensive dresses and would be able to give me several options in my $1500 budget, they also said they could discuss selling me a sample to save money. I really liked them a lot. I bought my dress at Andrea's and had a great experience with the salesperson I worked with, but just as a heads up, they don't let you take pictures, and they don't tell you who the designer of your dress is until you've paid a deposit. I knew that going in so was prepared, but it probably would have made me pretty  mad if it was just sprung on me.

I got my dress at Fabulous Formals in Sanford. They were great at first, then the seamstress was not my favourite (although she has improved on me). They were really helpful for me, though. I know they had a sign up about $99 gowns today, when I went in for my last fitting...

I had a really bad experience at Fabulous Formals in Sanford for my bridemaids dresses and if I had to do it again I would not go there. My bridesmaids did not get their dresses until 2 days before we needed them (very long story, but in short, I was given a new reason why everytime I asked... they were somehow lost and the owner waited until the Monday before to tell me this and get new dresses. The dresses were not even the right size so they had to basically build the dresses) and one of the bridemaids needed to go back again for additional alterations the day we were supposed to leave because there were not done correctly the first time. The whole process was a NIGHTMARE!

Hunh-- I never had anything close to that problem. Just the wrong size petticoat, but that was easily fixed at no charge to me.I think it's a weird vibe or something when it comes to gown shops-- JaimeMarieB and I bumped into each other in one of the shops up here in Lewiston and had COMPLETELY opposite experiences; I left the store swearing I'd never set foot in it again, and she had the greatest experience from start to finish with her gown. If you're just looking around for variety, as long as the place lets you try on the gowns you want to try on and aren't pushy or uninformative (like if they tell you that the dress isn't available in the colour you want or they fail to tell you that the gown you're interested in is discontinued, etc.), then I say it's not an issue where you go-- selection is the key, at that point.Andrea's was great for my sister... Just be sure to pronounce it "AhnDRAYuh's" and not "ANDreeuh's" and you'll be fine! :-)Good luck!

If you are interested in driving north, the Bridal Gallery in Bangor is where I got my dress. She sold it to me off the rack and a SUPER discounted price(mine originally was over 2000 and I bought it for 850) and there is nothing wrong with it. She has an online website with links to what she carries. She has Emerald, Eden, and Alfred Angelo. Plus she is awsome, and does no interest payment plans as well.
