Friday Poll (been a while!)

Okay, Ladies!I got an email today, telling me that my custom wedding goblets and two-handled wine cup are cooling down in the kiln (currently a cold 1350 degrees!). This was probably my biggest splurge-- not because of the price ($130 for the 3 pieces, two of which become part of the parents' gifts) but because I could have gone way cheaper and not gotten anything custom for my Unity-Wine Ceremony.So... My Friday Poll question is:What was/is your biggest splurge purchase for the wedding? It can be either because of the price or because it was not a necessity but you just wanted to have it!

My centerpieces. They could have been smaller or had fewer flowers but I really wanted lots of flowers spilling out onto the tables. :-)

Daniele--will we get to see pictures of the wine cup and goblets? They sound neat!

Sure! I'll post them as soon as I get them. I pick them up on Sunday (provided they cool down enough by then)...:-)

I splurged on 3 things, my venue ($3050 just to rent the space for a weekend for a wedding, plus an $800 security deposit), my photographers ($3k plus I paid $450 for a boudoir shoot) and my dress (almost $1400 after tax, rush fee, etc.). My dress was probably the biggest splurge over all since I had another dress that I probably *could* have worn.

I don't get married until next year, but as of right now I'm budgeting a good chunk of change to go towards my photography. We're not hiring a videographer... so I really feel like this is going to be the only way we'll be able to remember our wedding for years to come. Also, I think we'll probably spend some extra $$ on our cake. It's something that has recently become important to my FI.

Our silliest splurge, not our biggest expense, but wholly unnecessary was postage.  I had a really adorable picture of our cat with a bowtie and couldn't let it go.  We bought stamps for all the invitations, RSVPs, and thank-you notes with our kitty on them.  Yeah, we're that dorky.

Bounce house? Am I thinking of the right thing-- those inflatable "houses" that kids can jump around in? If you're having one at your wedding, I think that's AWESOME! LOLI love hearing about other people's "silly" or extravagant touches to their weddings. Makes me feel happy to know that I'm in good company! :-)

I'd say the main thing that was not necessary, but I HAD to have it was my silver cake pedestal.  It was around $140 and I still don't regret it at all and I truly feel it "made" the cake.

Hmmm, so far no splurges yet, but I'm sure they're out there, waiting to reel me in. I really want to decorate with a lot of paper lanterns, so that may be the splurge. They aren't really necessary, but look so pretty! And I also want to buy my bridesmaids lots of pretty things as gifts, so I may get carried away with that...I might also count as a splurge the engagement present I bought FI: a PS3! It's not actually for the wedding, but kind of wedding-related. And, surprisingly enough, the PS3 and its accessories cost more than my dress!

Yeah, so far my biggest splurge (give me time, I've got a year) was my fiance's engagement present- a 40 inch flat screen hd tv.  Yup, he loves it as much as I love my ring, and believe it or not, that was cheaper:)

My biggest splurge purchase would be the venue...I could have found somewhere cheaper but I just fell in love with the Eastland and I have never regretted it!!  I'd totally do it again in a heart beat...in fact I joked that I should have Jasmine keep all my info so we can do it all again in 10 years (but a renewal of vows)...as if we could afford that LOL

OMG I went to finalize my rental items for my wedding yesterday and it took all the restraint I had not to inquire about a bouncy house. We're not even having kids at the wedding so it would have made no sense for us, but I just really wanted one!!! :)

Thats why Im getting one =) I figured that it would be a bonus to have it for the kids but really I want it for me. Its taken 6 months for FI to warm up to the idea, but he finally wants one too. Im having a hard time not buying one of the ones with big slides attached, I think that would be way too dangerous by the time midnight comes though.
