I know this has been mentioned several times - but I've forgotten. Any recommendations for hair & make-up for the Portland area?

Depending on you budget, I recommend The Makeup Shop in South Portland (you can go there or they will come to you), Head Games, Cherry Pie Beauty, and Knaughty Hair. I don't know if Knaughty does makeup, but they do a great job with hair.

I used Bei Capelli for me, all my BM and MOB.  We received compliments all night on our hair and make up!!  All of my girls absolutely LOVED their hair and mom and I agreed it was well worth the money to have everyone completely happy.  It was a plus that everyone was done as the same time (they have one girl per person) so for 7 of us, all hair and make up, it took just under 2 1/2 hours-right on schedule for what they said it would be, AND we were able to drink mimosas!  LOL.  It's in Scarborough but it was only about a 10 minute drive to the Eastland, not far from the mall at all.  I think it was $57 for up dos and $35 for make up if I remember correctly.  I'd HIGHLY recommend them!!!!

J'adore Boutique on Fore Street in the Old Port does makeup and they don't charge for the bride to have a trial (or trials).  The rates are extremely reasonable (cheapest in town!), they include a lesson and you get discounts on the makeup.

I used Cherry Pie Salon in the Old Port. They came in at 6am on Sunday to not only do my hair and makeup, but also the hair of my bridesmaids, my flower girl, and then two of my guests (best man's wife and daughter). My makeup was exactly the look I wanted-- and it showed up in the pictures I've seen so far. It was perfect.My hair was a feat in and of itself-- my hair is INCREDIBLY fine and soft so it doesn't hold curls or have any volume, but Karen at Cherry Pie made my hair look like it was thick, voluminous, and the curls lasted through Monday night until I finally had a chance to wash my hair. I cannot recommend the folks at Cherry Pie enough. We had all sorts of hair types and styles desired (up-dos, half up-dos, curls, and blow-outs) and everyone was thrilled with their hair. And we were done in 2 hours (me, my MOH, 2 other BMs, flower girl, and 2 guests).
