Entertainment Suggestions??

Hi ladies- I haven't been on here in a VERY long time. I'm getting married Sept. 5, 2010 at Spring Hill Lodge. I'm finally getting into the wedding planning and actually BOOKING things, since we've finally moved into our house :) The only other vendor I need to book at this point (that I don't really have any ideas for) is the DJ. Can anyone recommend someone for me? We are looking for music from all decades...we love the oldies and classic rock, but want some stuff from the present as well. Any ideas?? Hope everyone's planning is going well :)-Lindsay

I loved my DJ - Mike Davis of Mike Davis Entertainment. I couldn't find anything about him online and this made me pretty nervous, but my dad knew him and booked him for me as a wedding gift. He's *very* affordable and has an awesome selection. We played so many different types of music: big band/swing, classic rock, oldies like The Beatles and Beach Boys, and even super modern stuff like Lady Gaga and Pitbull. Anything we wanted that he didn't have he was very willing to get for us, he even had that Michael Franti song Say Hey (I Love You) which I decided I wanted to use as our recessional the day of the wedding. Anyway, can't say enough good things about him. His phone # is (207) 453-4185.

I loved my DJ - Jeff Rockwell.  He went above and beyond for us, and helped with the schedule for the evening, and had great ideas.  He called me many many times that weekend to check in on different issues we were having (and he had 4 events that weekend!)A common DJ in that area (southern York County) is Fred Pappalardo & his company.  Any good DJ will have/get the music you want and will play according to the crowd's response to previous songs.  So, it's your comfort level with a particular DJ and their style that should be your focus.  Good Luck!

Haven't had the wedding yet, so I can't say how my DJ will be, but so far we've really enjoyed working with him. His name is Tom Morrisette, and we got in touch with him through Double Platinum Celebrations. He was really friendly, helpful and organized, and seemed to understand what we were looking for. He recently DJ'ed a wedding at our venue, and the coordinator said he was the best DJ they'd ever had there. The DJ/owner Patrick Daniels runs Double Platinum and does a lot of weddings himself. We met with him too and he was great, but already booked for our date. http://www.maineplatinumdj.com/.I think as pp said, most DJs will be able to play whatever music you want, so it's more about finding the person whose personality and style meshes with yours -- someone that makes you feel comfortable and seems to understand if you want something laid-back, more formal, etc. And someone who's willing to work with your budget, handle special requests and answer set-up questions. Anyone who doesn't take the time at an initial meeting to get to know you a little and doesn't seem interested in what you want your wedding to be like probably won't be that interested on the day of the wedding either -- at least that's my feeling. If they just seem like they're in a rush to get you to sign a contract, think twice!

Google Jerry Bazata, he's somewhere in southern Maine and from what I've heard he's fantastic! I'm not sure of the spelling, but that should head you in the right direction. Good luck.
