beach venue help!!

I'm originally from Nashua, NH but now live in Falmouth, ME right next to Portland, I want a wedding on the beach or at a gazebo over looking the beach... It seems every place I look at they are over priced, don't allow more than 100 guests AND what's going on with all town laws that receptions can't go past 10 or 11pm? Is this true for all of Maine? I need help with venue suggestions between Falmouth and maybe down through Rye beach.. help help!!

Unfortunately you're definitely going to have this problem through most of the state. :( The only thing I can suggest would be to have a very informal ceremony at a place like The Portland Head Light or Willard Beach in South Portland, and then have your reception somewhere else. Another option depending on your budget would be to charter a Casco Bay Cruise Liner. They have a boat that can fit enough people, and they could take you to a beach anywhere in Casco Bay for your ceremony, then you could have your reception on the boat cruising all around the harbor. I know there are several gorgeous stretches of beach on some of the lesser known islands in the bay. It would be very unique!

This isn't in the region you mentioned, but I thought I'd put it out there. There is an inn near Popham Beach in Phippsburg that has outdoor weddings, and it's close enough to the beach that you could do your ceremony on the beach if you wanted. I've never been, but driven by and seen the tent set up for a wedding, and it's a really pretty area! It's called the Stonehouse Manor: http://www.stonehousemanor.com/. I have no idea how much it costs or what their rules are for time, but I think a lot of venues would restrict you to around 11, whether it's a beach or not. But maybe I'm wrong...There are a couple resort-type places in the midcoast that are on the ocean, but not really the beach, so I don't know if that's what you're looking for.

I don't know if it would be out of your budget, but I'm getting married at Jones Landing on Peaks Island. You could have your ceremony right on the sand - or they have an arch set up that overlooks the water. The reception venue is a large tent with full water views, overlooking the beach, a bit of rocky coast and the ocean. You can definately have more than 100 people there - but the last (summer) ferry to Portland does leave Peaks Island at about 10:45pm.You have to arrange for catering through Black Tie Catering (yum!), and they are the ones I contacted about info/pricing - they are very nice!!
