Why a post I made on here about a vender end up on Craigslist???

I made a post about my venue and a DJ on here.  Part of that post has now ended up on craigs list? I made a few comments about how our day/night went and what we thought of things.  I put a review on here for other brides to see and it ends up on craigs list?  I did not make that post there and am getting crap for it.  Not right.  I posted something here for other brides to see, not for someone to cut and paste part of what I said onto Craigs List.  Why would you do that? Was it really necessary?? How rude!

That is so nuts! Who would do that and why? Can you get it deleted? I think a lot of  vendors lurk on these boards, so maybe another venue or DJ did it? It sucks to think that things posted here aren't private, but it seems nothing is on the Internet these days.

Wow MJs - that really sucks and I'm sorry!  It's true that a lot (probably most) wedding vendors lurk here and can easily copy and paste and post it somewhere else anonymously.  Just keep your chin up - if what you said were your true experiences (which I'm sure they were) just ignore all the rest.

Thanks gals.  I was very suprised to find out that had happened but am over it.  And as Jamie said, yes it was our true experience so I dont feel bad for saying how we felt about it.  Not sure there is a way to delete it or not.  I deleted the post from here so that it didnt cause anymore problems, but come on.  I was just telling our experiences so that others had a bit of feedback, cause I know how helpful this site was for me while we were planning.  oh well.

I'm so sorry that happened to you. Like Jaimebeth said, a lot of vendors lurk here and awhile back a girl came on to complain about her cake baker and that particular vendor happened to pay the knot for advertising so they contacted some administrator who deleted the post and posted this big message about how our board would be shut down if we were using it to slander vendors inappropriately. It's a hard line to walk because the whole point of this board is to share our honest experiences for other brides so they will know what vendors are awesome and what vendors to avoid, but since it is a public forum, posting an honest but negative review of a vendor can cause all kinds of drama.

I have been employed at Mariner's Church Banquet Center for many years, and actually became a part of that discussion. After conducting what I like to think of as a thorough investigation into the matter of craigslist it turned out that according to most of the dj's who post ads in craigslist the negative posts are generated from DJ Jim Casey, buck and bass woodworking- also a dj i  guess, and DJ Lenny Duprey. Some of those negative comments are regarding DJ's that apparently have lower prices than Jim Casey's, others are posts of copy & pasted material from other sites, links to laptop or ipod dj's or renting those types of equipment, who's a local dj and who isn't, and some even fabricated comments. Not that I don't agree with the laptop dj's, ipod dj's and rental equipment set ups being the lowest quality dj or type of wedding you can have (working at Mariner's i've seen the difference between those types of dj's and the dj's that actually come into our banquet center with real equipment). We actually had a guy come in with a laptop hooked up to what looked like a walmart boom box. The sound, announcements, and complete reception were a disaster! I agree that what is posted in here is valuable information or opinions, but can also be exaggerated. I also don't think that these comments in here should be posted elsewhere from other vendors trying to belittle their competition. In my opinion craigslist would be the last place I looked for a dj, and if i were searching for one-especially for my wedding- i would look for actual dj's who pay for their listing somewhere else instead of using a free 'bottom of the barrel' site like craigslist.
