House rental on the water.....how much?

What would you consider a reasonable amount to rent a 3 bedroom old home on the water for a wedding in Maine?  I have a friend who is considering purchasing one for that reason.  Thanks!

    I would say it depends.  It depends on how big the house is, where the wedding would be (i.e. indoors, outdoors, tent, etc), how big the lawn is, location, etc.  The home I rented did not charge more to have a wedding there, but instead charged me a $1,000 surcharge which covered their additional expenses of having the septic tanked pumped and trash removed, and also included general liability and liquor liability insurance purchased in our name.  Perhaps he can go on HomeAway.com and VRBO.com and see what similar houses in that area rent for.  That would probably give them the best info.

    I agree with PP.  Location would also play a huge factor.  A house on the coast is probably going to cost more than a house on a lake in Northern Maine.

    If its on the ocean, particularly in southern maine it will cost much more. I'm guessing atleast $1,000.
