Where is the honeymoon?

Sorry if this has been brought up before, but I was just wondering where everyone is going on their honeymoon? We haven't decided yet, but we're not going right away. We're getting married in September, and we figured, who wants to leave Maine in September?

We're going to go in February, which for me is the point in the year where I simply can't take another second of winter. Also, we have a new baby, and in February, my FI's mom can take the baby for us since she works for a school.

Where is everyone going?

We are spending a week up in Maine, half pre-wedding and half post-wedding.  Friends are staying with us and we plan to do some golfing, relaxing, and just spend some time enjoying the house we're in.  We're also taking the week before off work so with two weeks out already we can't go on a honeymoon right away.  We may stop for a night or two in Portland on our way home and do a really nice dinner at the White Barn Inn or something like that but I keep thinking that the money we would spend on those nights would probably pay for half of a trip in February to a warm island.  lol.  Ideally we would like to do a tropical honeymoon trip next winter but we are going to try for a baby right away.  It may end up being our honeymoon and a babymoon wrapped into one!

We are going on a road trip to Niagara Falls Ontario, we are only staying out there three nights, so it's more of a minimoon.

We haven't decided yet either, but will also be putting off a "real" honeymoon until Feb or April when FI has school break (he's a teacher).  Plus, we feel the same way jeleny, who wants to leave Maine (in our case, in July)!  After the wedding we might go camping for a few nights just to get away from everything.  We'll probably do an All Inclusive somewhere warm in Feb or April so we can just lay on the beach and relax.

We are not doing a honeymoon right away.  There are a couple of reasons, but the main one is that I have a one year job right now and we are moving in September.  I'll have a little over a month left at my current job when we get married, and I don't have the time to go away for a long time.  We were going to go to Alaska (where FI is from) in August, but I think our plans are falling through.  FI would like to go to New Zealand or Australia once we can take more time off.  I have really been wanting to just go somewhere warm and relaxing, though, and I've been feeling kind of down about not having anything planned (which I admit could be winter blues).  I would love to go to Hawai'i and have never been, so I think I might push for that once we're settled in our new city and jobs.

We are going to Hawaii.  We figured that it's something we would probably never get a chance to do again, especially if we have kids so we are biting the bullet and going. However, with every thing going in Japan we just have to keep a close eye on the news...:( Make sure to get traveler's insurance if you are going to book something at a tropical place. You never know what's going to happen these days!!

I can't wait to get OUT of Maine in July!!!

We are going to the Baltimore/DC area for the week, driving down in the wee hours of Monday morning.  3 days in Baltimore (3 Red Sox games) and then 2 days outside of DC before heading home on Saturday!  On Thursday night, FFIL has reserved a limo for us and we're going to go out to a nice dinner then have a nice tour, limo-style, of the sights!  We've been there before, FI once and me 7 or 8 times, but the limo experience will be something new for both of us!

Believe it or not, FI & I have yet to book our honeymoon. I think we might go someplace less expensive (a last minute deal perhaps), then head down to Disney for a real honeymoon during the fall or winter. Not sure. Open to suggestions! We're thinking about a quick trip to Iceland following the wedding as one idea.

We're spending 5 nights in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.  I've been to FL before, but FH never has.  I'm super excited to lay on the beach, and do nothing after all this wedding stress.

oh wow! so many people are in the same boat as us. We haven't decided where to go at all. I'd love something tropical, but I'd also love to go somewhere in Europe. Since we're getting married on Labor day weekend, I'm hoping we can at least go away for the rest of the weekend somewhere nearby (but I agree with what Chris said) half the time it costs hundreds of dollars a night to stay in some cute inn.

i really like the idea of a road trip!

We're going to Honduras! Should be quite the adventure, I'm embarassed to say I had to look up where it was on a map when someone asked me where it was last week (South America in the Caribbean). We had the old September Caribbean hurricaine season issue, we wanted to go to Thailand or somewhere like that but its just too darn far and expensive to get there. We toyed with Hawaii but I wanted something a bit more off the beaten path. We settled on Roatan, and we're actually going to be in our own beach bungalow on a private island with just a few other people. Very remote, not for everyone but just what we wanted!

You are going to be honeymooning in my neck of the woods! I live just outside of DC :)  FI is originally from Maine, hence the DW to get away from here!

We want to do a Florida vacation, part-parks and part-beach so we're waiting as well..we won't be able to get the extra vacation time and have no desire to be there in August! Probably a late February/early March trip.

We originally wanted to do Hawaii for the same reason as PP, something we won't really get the chance to do. But we just moved to Florida (with about 3 months notice...FI is military) and we deicided to do an Eastern Caribbean cruise instead because it leaves from Florida so we can drive to the port and not have to worry about plane tickets at all. After we decided to change, I was super happy because as much as I want to do Hawaii, I want to do it right when we go and plan everything to the max. But since I'm already planning everything for the wedding, I wanted to do something where they plan everything for us!! We just booked this week, so now I'm getting super excited!!

Stops on the cruise are Cococay Bahamas, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten.
