I did not eat at Clay Hill Farm, but I visited and consider that for my wedding reception.  It's a beautiful setting and from what I researched the food is amazing.

I'm not sure how a RD would work at Clay Hill Farm, but for private functions that occur during their scheduled dining hours they require a food/bev minimum that matches their expected sales.  I looked at it for my wedding and for an off-season Friday night it was almost $10,000.  Not to mention all the other fees associated with renting a place.  It isn't a huge restaurant, but if you are having a smallish (20-30 people) RD then you might be able to make use of only a section of the restaurant.  The Inn on the Blues has good food and a great view of Short Sands, but I don't know any info on private functions there.
