Wedding Recap!!

Hello ladies!!

I figured I'd do this before we leave on Sunday for the honeymoon!!

First off, I'm starting by saying that the day was PERFECT!!

Friday night, we had a welcome party at one of the bars at Sugarloaf. We had shuttles running all night from the hotel to the bar and back so everyone was pretty excited about that. My dad got this band to come play who were in high school. They were AMAZING. They definitely did not sound like they were in high school! We gave our wedding party their presents that night and everyone loved them! A few of us girls also got on stage with the band and were dancing with them, and since they were in high school, they quite enjoyed it. :)

Saturday morning, I woke up and the weather was gorgeous! I was thrilled. The girls started getting their hair done at 8:00 because they all wanted intricate stuff. Mostly, while they were all getting done, the rest of us just hung out. I kept feeling like we needed to be somewhere or I needed to be doing something! I finally relaxed with a few mimosas. :)

My sister started my makeup at like 11:00 and then I grabbed some lunch when she was done and started hair after that.  One of my bridesmaids commented that she had never had time to eat lunch when she was in a wedding before because things are usually so crazy. I'm so glad that I was so organized about the whole thing because it made things so much more enjoyable! There was never really any panic!

We finally got dressed and went over to the ceremony site and did a first look session. It was exciting to have that moment with H (Surprised) privately (well, wedding party and parents were there, but mostly private). Then we took basically all the formal pictures.

We had a slight hiccup with the music as the DJ started the bridesmaids processional too early and it finished and started the bride's processional. He quickly turned it off and started the bridesmaids song again though and then started the bride's processional again when I started walking.

One of my favorite moments was walking down the aisle with my dad. I was doing good until I saw one of my cousin's who was crying pretty hard and I started choking up so I told my dad to talk to me about something and he basically was making me laugh the whole way down the aisle. :)

The ceremony was perfect. We had a friend do a reading and H's cousin sing/play on guitar Into the Mystic (he's amazingly talented). Then when we were done, we walked out and had the saber arch (H is in the Air Force). If you don't know what this is, we had 6 of our military friends make an arch (so 3 pairs) and as we walked up to each pair, they would lower the sabers (swords) and make us kiss before we could go by. Then, once we got through, the last guy slapped me on the butt with the saber and said, "Welcome to the Air Force, ma'am!" It was perfect. :)

From there, H, me, and the photographer hopped in our car and went to take some pictures on the chair lift. Then we went back down and finished some pictures with our families, and our doggie (H proposed with him, so it only seemed appropriate we sent someone to grab him from my parents house for some pictures).  From there, we went up to the reception at the base lodge. We actually got to enjoy a few minutes of the cocktail hour because we got so many pictures done beforehand. Then we all danced into the reception (parents included) to Howlin' for You by The Black Keys. Another small hiccup here was the DJ skipped over one pair of bridesmaid/groomsman, but they danced out before us instead so it was fine. He later announced them again and had them come out to the dance floor to make up for it.

We went into first dance, during which I stepped on my dress and broke the bustle. MOH fixed me with DUCT TAPE!! We figured it wasn't a Maine wedding dress until it had duct tape on it. :) Although it broke again later though!! After which, I just hoisted it up and carried it around everywhere. :) Then dinner from there, which was delicious! We got to go around and see everyone before the cake (which we smooshed into each others faces, but not too badly!). After that, we did a father/daughter dance and then the anniversary dance and then the party began!! We had so much fun dancing with everyone. Then we had our garter retrieval in which H first pulled out a cap gun and fired a few rounds, followed by a pair of my underwear, followed by a light saber, and finally followed by the garter! It was a lot of fun.

We also had a photo booth, which was a huge hit. I'll also post vendor reviews separately.

Basically it was a wonderful night!! Everything went really smoothly other than the few minor hiccups. I couldn't be more pleased with it and loved having such a great day!! But now I'm definitely ready for the honeymoon because I need a vacation!!!

Wow...sounds like quite the treasure chest you had under your dress for the garter retrieval!  ;-)

I had the same music snafu as well, except I didn't have anyone to fix it.

Glad you had an amazing day!

    Thanks ladies!!

The only person who know about the garter thing other than H and I (and the DJ) was my MOH so she could help me bring the stuff into the reception and strap it all on my leg before we started!! I ended up with two garters to make sure everything stayed on my leg. :) It was hilarious to watch people's faces when he started pulling out everything!! So glad we kept that a secret!!
