AW: DIY T shirts

Hey ladies! This week I made T shirts for FI and I to wear at the after party after the wedding, and maybe the next day too. My awesome MOH helped me make them. It took a long time to cut out the letters, but I think they came out great!

On the back is FI's last name -- and my soon-to-be last name.

If I didn't have two weeks until the wedding, I totally would! It looks like your wedding is coming right up too! Are you excited? What do you have left to do? We just finished our seating chart and escort cards yesterday.

They came out so good! I am German and in Germany we have the tradition of a "Polteraben". All friends family and the intire village comes a couple of days before the wedding to party. This way you don't have to worry about hard feelings of not inviting the whole village.

Bryan and I are planing on flying home to Germany and celebrating a Polteraned there. Fingers are crossed that everything works out with the visa!!!! I could totally use some of these for that day. Another thing to add to the To-Do list ;)

Thanks so for the inspiration!!! And I wish you the greatest day in your live in two weeks!!!

Minmin- it is coming up! I think my date on TK is wrong, but it is in 4 weeks!
I just have the seating chart to do. My rsvp date is June 1st, but I am still missing 19! I am dreading the seating chart.

How did you make the shirts?

The seating chart wasn't as painful as I thought it would be, until we got last-minute changes from people, which meant having to redo it a couple times. We used Martha Stewart Weddings' seating chart tool online (<a href="http://www.marthastewartweddings.com" rel="nofollow">www.marthastewartweddings.com</a>) and it was so easy to do that way. You have to import your guest list as an excel document, but once that's done, you can just move people all around. I recommend checking it out.

For the shirts, I just bought black T shirts and iron-on transfer paper at Target. My MOH and I used Word to write MR. and MRS.; we just did white letters with a black outline, but you could do color too. Then we printed the letters onto the transfer paper. The hard part was cutting the letters out, because you had to cut each one out individually. We used an exacto knife for scrapbooking, which made it a lot easier, especially for the smaller letters on the back of my shirt (new last name, not pictured, for obvious reasons). Then we lined them up and ironed them! Really not as hard as I expected. It took us a couple hours to do both.

I could email you the Word template we used, if you're interested. If you do give it a try, I recommend getting shirts that are mostly cotton, and not putting the letters too close to the boobs. I made a tank top for me first, with MRS. right across the chest, and they looked all stretchy. For the T shirt, I put the letters up higher on the chest and the back letters up higher across the shoulders, for less risk of the stretch factor :) Or just get a looser fitting shirt so it doesn't pull across the chest.

VERY cute.  I love it!  I've been thinking about doing something like that for my maids... since I couldn't pay my FI to wear that shirt.  LOL!

Yeah, FI isn't jazzed about it, but he's reluctantly agreed. He was like, "how long do I have to wear it??" haha.

My MOH and FSIL made a bunch of these for the bachelorette party and they were so great! They said bridesmaid or team bride on the back, with the number 12 (the wedding date), and on the sleeve was a pic of a martini with the words "Buy us a shot, Mindy's tying the knot!" on them. Super cute, but time consuming for 10+ girls. But for your bridal party, it would be great!
