help... :)

Hi.. I'm in desperate need of a wedding reception place near the beach in either Ogunquit or Wells or York or someplace around there! We were going to rent a house and hold the reception there but I guess there are ordinances against doing this... so now I'm at a loss.... We are doing a DIY wedding on a tight budget so the fancy hotels are out of the question.. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!!!

What kind of ordinances?  Usually it is noise ordinances after a certain point - 9 or 10.  We are borrowing a friend's house in that area and we called the town hall and they were fine with it.

York/Wells/Kennebunk tends to be really expensive, but depending on how many people you have maybe a local restaurant? is it morning/afternoon/evening?

you have to give us a little more information. How about what kind of budget are you looking at and how many people would be at the reception? And how long are you willing to travel (getting slightly out of that area may save you a lot of money)

    hi and thank you!!
we are looking to have a little under 100 people at the reception. the wedding itself will just be immediate family only. we would like to have an evening reception if possible. our budget for the whole wedding is just 10,000. we just want something casual and really laid back but unique at the same time. for the most part, we want to do as much as possible by ourselves leaving most of the money to go towards the food (i'm marrying a chef! lol) as for driving distance, we live in nh and lots of our guests are from boston and south so we wouldn't want to go too much father north; it's already an hour and a half drive for them to maine.
    I hope this information helps!!!
and Thank you both again for your help!

The york harbor inn, the beachmere, cliff house. But these will all probably run high. A beach wedding and reception at jonathans? We just chose ours at the red barn in s.  berwick. We wanted the ocean but nothing wow'd me on what they offered! Good luck

I'm getting married at Foster's Clambake in York - it's very budget friendly but the menu isn't super fancy (delicious, but not fancy).  I'll second Jonathan's in Ogunquit, they have a nice space and I don't think it would be out of your budget.  Good luck!

Spring Hill in South Berwick, Maine has great reception spots with beautiful outdoor areas available to rent also.  It's friendly on the budget too!  A local photographer I'd highly recommend is Seguin Photography - www.seguinphoto.com.  They do amazing work at incredible prices!
