A Hello and questions!!

Hi Ladies! My name is Tiffany and I'm a new bride-to-be in the Pittsburgh area. My fiance and I have a unique situation actually...we had originally planned on getting married June 12, 2010 in Delaware where we are from, but his grandparents are sick and it means a lot to us that they come to the wedding so we are moving it up to Oct 10 this year!! We chose Pittsburgh because we LOVE the city and visiting family and we never want to leave when we visit. We cut down the list significantly because this was such a sudden decision (we literally made up our minds like 5 hours ago). Does anyone have any suggestions for nice restaurants for about 70 ppl to hold our reception? No price limit as of yet, but I'd just like to get some different ideas. Thank you soo much and I look forward to chatting with everyone!

Congratulations!  And whoa-nelly, boy are you going to be busy in the next 2 months!!!!!LeMont is really nice.  http://www.lemontpittsburgh.com/I'm just a MOB who lives an hour north of Pittsburgh and can't give you much help.  The regular brides are not on too much on the weekends.  You should get lots of help and advice from them on Monday.

The Grand Concourse. I just had my wedding there (recep pics aren't up in my bio yet). We used their main dining hall because we had more people than you will have, but they also have a smaller room for smaller weddings. The food was amazing, and the price isn't bad at all.

Hi and welcome. I second the LeMont. I've been to othr dinner events there and a friend's sister just had her wedding there. It's very nice and you get great views of the city. Since you might have issues with finding open dates, I'd suggest considering a Friday night or Sunday afternoon for your wedding. GL and sending some prayers for your FIs grandparents' health.

i third the lemont! we're holding our ceremony & our reception there in january. i just calculated an approximate cost for the food at the reception, and was pleasantly reminded how reasonably priced it is...at least, compared to everything else we looked at! i am estimating a max cost of $50 per person, based on the $11 per person cost for 5 appetizers and $39 per person for the most expensive entree i could pick off the menu (which is not necessarily what we will actually choose to offer). i have the menu with the prices and info if you'd like it. we also considered the grand concourse, it's so pretty in there and has a great view as well!!GL!

Hi and congratulations!  My cousin just decided this week to get married Oct. 10th this year as well, so I knwo JUST how busy you are going to be!  The LeMonte and Grand Concourse are both great restaurants and are reasonably priced.

Hi, just a quick heads up about the LeMont and your situation.  I also have a lot of elderly relatives and many of them rely on wheelchairs to get around.  LeMont's handicap accessibility to their lower ballroom isn't great.  They have a stairglider that they can install (it wasn't up when I visited) and also offered to "carry" people down the steps if they couldn't use the stairglider.  I crossed it off my list because I knew my relatives wouldn't be comfortable with that.  Just keep that in mind if you visit to check out the rooms

haha, good thing i don't have anyone in wheelchairs! course, wouldn't the solution to that problem just be to rent the upstairs room, instead of the bottom room? just sayin!

Every wedding I've been to at the LeMont has been in the lower ballroom. Do they rent the upper room? I've been to several weddings there and thought that they were always held in the lower room. (One planner told me her bride reserved the upper, but was switched last minute to the lower, so make sure that you get it in writing which one you're getting if handicapped accessibility is a problem). When I was there, the StairGlider was up, but the facility is difficult for those with mobility problems, I agree.I agree with the Grand Concourse and with keeping the day of the week flexible as Emily said. With only 70 guests, your options are wide open. I have several of my favorites listed in my bio under Vendors. HTH
