I am using I Do Spas, which will travel anywhere in Maine, you can actually find them right here on the Knot or google them.  They have been awesome so far and for hair and makeup for myself and 3 attendatns it is $400

There's a place on Washington Ave in Portland is a cute little salon and the prices are great (around $35 for an updo)!! I don't know if they'll close the doors for you & your party but I'm sure they'll do what they can! I'd give them a call!!  I'll try and figure out the name for you!

The make up shop in south portland is fantastic. They dont' do hair though, they will travel to you, or you can go to them.

Not sure what your budget is, but this was one of the most difficult decisions for me, personally.  Second only to chosing my photographer, this was where most of my research focused during my entire engagement.
I ended up finding an independently owned hair salon (not a chain) who charged me next to nothing, and I did my own makeup, since I never found anyone with reasonable prices for that.  My sister had Bare Essentuals make up, and my mom treated me to an add-on kit that matched my complexion, and I practiced a few times before the big day.
    Good luck!

I used Bei Capelli...they were really awesome.  I had myself and 9 girls get their hair done and 8 for make up and we were out if there in 3 hours which is really good if you ask me!  Very professional and the salon is so nice...they had water and coffee for us, it was really a great experience!  Cool

Update:  The salon on Washington Ave is A Touch of Style! Let me know if you end up going there because I'm considering it for next year!

We are going to Cherry Pie in Portland.  I've actually never been there, so this will be an adventure!

I am using Joya Beauty, they are based in NH but do travel to Maine.  They do airbrushed makeup and I have a friend who is a hairdresser and makeup artist who RAVES about her work.  That was enough for me to book her!

Does anyone know of a good hair/make up person up around Mount Desert Island?  I'm worried about finding a good vendor up in such a small community!
  • Does any one have experience with Betsy's Salon in Bath?  They were recommended by my site in Georgetown, Maine.

My wedding is July 1, 2012.  Trying to get this nailed down now, because it's actually on a Sunday, and I don't know what will be open/available.  Does anyone know independent hairdressers who can travel to you?  I'm looking at I do, but I don't think I'll have 4 people who want their hair done, so I'm not sure that makes sense for me.

    Thanks for any ideas.

I work in the Bath community - I know people who go to Betsy's regularly to have their hair done, but I have no idea how they feel about it.

One of the former brides on here lives in that area and is a hairstylist.  I know her (in real life) and can get in touch with her to see if she has any suggestions.

Edit:  And she got in touch with you!  Thanks Britt!
