Guest book instructions

We want to have people leave us thoughts, ideas, advice, wisdom, etc in the guest book instead of just a signature and "Congratulations!"  I have a great picture frame which matches and I thought I'd type up a nice little blurb of instructions to leave by the guest book.  Does anyone know how to phrase it or what to say that might inspire people to write something nice?

Hey!   I just found this!!  It's longer than I was wanting, but maybe it will help inspire someone.

    Please leave us a note,
    please drop us a line,
    add advice on marriage,
to stand the test of time
Instead of a guestbook stuck in a drawer,
Jen and Bill thought they would do more.
Please write them a note, a wish, or greeting.
On the plane to Spain, it will make for good reading!
Or if you prefer, some advice would be nice,
on how to stay married and keep the spice.
Weddings are more than just dresses and rice,
So pick up a pen and write us some advice!
From each of your experiences comes a very special gift,
A piece of hidden knowledge that we didn’t know exists.
    Please share with us your wisdom about marriage, love and life;
How to be a loving husband, or to be the perfect wife.
Please write your thoughts and wishes to share with us for life
For the greatest gift of all is the gift of your advice.

Hmmm...the first thing I would do is make sure that you have some people write their messages ahead of time (maybe parents) so when the book is put out people can follow the message "theme" and not just sign their name.

Regarding the sign, perhaps you can write something as simple as:

"Please take a moment to leave us a message with your Wishes, Advice or Congratulations.".

I agree... you should have a couple people leave notes first and people will get the hint to not just sign their name.  The poem is cute, but a little long in my opinion, something short and sweet would be perfect!

saw this one online... thought it was really cute!

welcome! We're so glad you came
we'd love to have you sign your name
and write perhaps a line or two
by which we can remember you
then when our wedding day has passed
our memories of this day will last
for when we look at it, we will see
kind words from friends and family!

    Or this one..

marriage is much more than rings and tossed rice
grab a pen and some paper and write your wish or advice!

    hope that helps!

Great Idea and sugguestions! I think I will do the same thing. I was thinking at the rehearsal dinner ask everyone in my wedding party and parents to each sign and write something in the book on a different page to get it started :-)

Thanks everyone for the GREAT idea!!!
