Hardware Store and Wedding Shop?

I've so many not-so-great things about david's bridal and I'm nervous for my appointment next weekend. I've been looking at some of the other places people have recommened and I have a question..have any of you heard about hussie's/hussy's hardware in windham? I've had about 3 or 4 people tell me about the amazing experiences they had there but I'm leery of it since it's exactly what it says..a hardware store that happens to have an upstairs with thousands of wedding gowns! haha any thoughts?

I think you mean Hussey's General Store in Windsor Maine.  http://husseysgeneralstore.com/

They have a nice selection of dresses, it just isn't a "typical" bridal salon.

I think the quality of the dresses at David's are fine, the only thing I wouldn't do is have them do any alterations that are needed.  That seems to be where the majority of the horror stories come from.

Yes, I've been there! It's a general store, technically, but they sell everything, including wedding dresses. The bridal part is pretty small compared to the rest of the store, but they have a pretty good selection of Alfred Angelo dresses in particular. I wouldn't say thousands, though. The whole section is about an eighth of the size of the DB store in South Portland.

    Here's a photo I took while I was there:

FWIW (and I keep saying this on here, but because it's true!) I had a great experience with David's Bridal, alterations included. Absolutely no complaints! If you go into it thinking it'll be bad and looking for things that are wrong, then it probably will be.

I also had a great experience at Davids.  I think any place is going to have issues, and maybe we hear more about the ones at Davids more because they sell more gowns.
    August 28th, HERE I COME!

I had a great experience at David's Bridal when I purchased my wedding dress.  I went on a Saturday and it was extremely busy.  I worked with Andrea and she was also helping 3 or 4 other brides but she was wonderful.  I never felt like I was waiting or that I wasn't being helped.  I went another time, about a month later to purchase my dress for our honeymoon cruise and the girl that helped me that time was not so good.  She handed me the dress and longline bra and showed me to a dressing room and never came back! and it was in the evening time so they were not bust at all.  Ummm... how do I put it one by myself much less zip it up?? So I left and said I would come back another time.  I think it pretty much depends on who your consultant is.
