Photographers in Maine?

I live in Boston, but am getting married in Maine.

My fiance and I are looking for a photographer that could do our wedding that won't cost us all of our limbs.  I'm thinking no more than 3K, including engagement pics.

Any advice/recommendations?

I am using Simply Mella in September.  I have been stalking her facebook page, and her pictures is so pretty.  She is very reasonable priced.  I am really excited about having her in my wedding.

I'm using Kate Bradley. Her business is relatively new, but she is not new to photography. My FI is a photography geek and he was quizzing her when we met with her and she knew it ALL. Plus her pictures are beautiful. And since her business is relatively new, her prices aren't bad at all. Definitely should be within your budget.

Clare Norton comes highly recommended on this board.

Sweet Life memories is an upcoming photographer in the bangor area, and her work is very excellent.

We are using Birch Blaze Photography out of New Hampshire, but they travel to Maine regularly.  We paid less than $3k and that included two photographers.  They are SUPER talented and the vendor I am most excited about!

We used Portrait New England for our wedding in MA last year but they are located in Maine. They are extremely reasonable and they are a husband and wife team so you actually get two photographers for what most charge just for one. I was really impressed with them-

We so wanted Birch Blaze but they were already booked. We went with Aja Stephan Photography. She is reasonable priced and we loved her personality. We just recently did our engagement photos which were covered in our package and we loved them. She spent so much time with us and I think she took about 500 shots.

I am from Boston too! I found Clare Norton, we just got married and she is AMAZING. We've yet to get our full set of proofs, but what I've seen has been stunning. She's VERY well priced - well within your budget. 

Also, she's just the best person to have by your side all day and all night. She's so patient and kind, and she's great with children if that's a concern of yours. My 3 yr old nephew who had been a saint during the ceremony and all of the formal photos right up until the last picture...he pitched a fit and she handled it so well. We got our last pics and all headed in to cocktail hour. I have NOTHING but praise for Clare.

I am using Reed Allen Photography. He will do your entire day, with rights to your photos, I believe 2 photographers for 1000 an extra 200 for rehersal.

I went to high school with Reed Allen! He's an awesome guy. I don't think he had his business open when we booked a photographer.

Reed is so chill! My FI is also a photographer and they graduated  college together, thats how we know him

Check with Elizabeth Stanley or Michael Whitman.  Both do excellent work and are very flexible with helping you get what you want in your budget.  Good luck!

I have heard great things about Clare Norton as well.  We went with Windswept Acres because we really meshed with Peter.  Also, he was very reasonably priced and his packages include a lot of stuff, which some others did not.

We used Mariko Brown out of Frankfort, ME.  She has a couple of packages in the $2000 range (not sure what other options you want) that include some prints, all-day coverage, and an engagement shoot.  She brings her husband, and he'll take pictures if necessary, but he more organized people and pointed out shots to Mariko--they're a good team.  Our wedding was in Freeport, and they were staying over the night before anyway, so they came to our day-before BBQ for no additional charge.  We haven't gotten wedding photos back yet, but the engagement photos were lovely, so we have high hopes.

I am using Samantha Clark, great pricing, and you get two photographers! Take a look at her website, I would also suggest Susan Gatti. Both are from the Portland ME area

www.AlexisSteinPhoto.com is shooting my wedding in Wells, Maine on March 2, 2012...they are amazing...they are from NY, but worth the money. They waived my travel since they love Maine. They too are getting married here.
