July 2013 Weddings

Tell Us Tuesday

Having internet friends is fun. It's even more fun when you know more about them. :) So, tell us. . . when you aren't planning your fabulous wedding, what do you do for fun? What did you do before the rock came, or what will you do to fill the hours you'll get back afterwards?

As usual. . . I'll start.

I love to cook/bake, but since starting wedding planning (and getting my new job - which I think is REALLY to blame) I just don't have the time or energy to spend 1-2 hours on dinner. Now, FH has been cooking it, and if I have time I do it but it's never anything fun or exciting. I cannot wait to start making all of the things I have been pinning on Pinterest again.

Re: Tell Us Tuesday

  • I also love to bake. I've been trying out more breads here lately (if anyone has awesome bread recipes please send them my way!). I don't cook, that's completely up to FI since he's the pro.

I also love baseball. So so so much. The Red Sox are my team, Dodgers are my backup. I can't even express how excited I am for the season to be in full swing!

Hiking in the mountains/walking on the beach are what I usually fill at least one evening & weekend with every week. It just doesn't feel like working out when I'm outside.

OH. And books. I love to read.
  • I used to run and go to the gym almost every day. Now we're both working so many hours its just not doable. I wish it were but 50 or more hrs a week doesn't leave much room for anything else. I'm the baker, he's the cook. He always said if he could go back to school it'd be for culinary arts. Sometimes I cant believe how he comes up with half the meals we have. They're amazing. Post wedding we plan on remodeling the kitchen floor and upstairs bathroom.Fi's dad does construction and such so it'll be a huge help. I cant wait to have a bathroom where i don't have to look at half torn retro wallpaper and drywall.

100 Comments First Anniversary 5 Love Its
    edited March 2013
We are avid readers. We have gone out to dinner more than once together with seperate books and read rather than talked. Haha. Besides wedding planning I run a monthly book club in my area and love it! I have a reading goal of 25 books this year and Have done 5 so far. FI is trying to read 40 this year and has done 6 or 7. I love my GoodReads account. Oh and when FI and I were living apart when we were younger we found it hard to talk on the phone every night so we read the same book to stay close in thought and talked every three days about the book and life instead.

Post wedding we plan to move back in together and start busting butt on paying off his student loans. Our 1st year of marriage goal is 25 thousand paid off. We both agreed we would start TTC until one succesful year of marriage and 3/4ths of his student loans paid off! It seems scarier when I talk about it with other people 25 grand is a lot of money!

I also work full time 40 to 50 hours a week as a preschool teacher/daycare provider. The kids have been horrible and I am exhausted. Right now I have nothing good to say about my job today. haha. Maybe next week!

  • I'm really into fashion & interior design. I have a personal style blog (but I've totally fallen off the wagon!) And since I moved home after college 4 years ago we've been redecorating/updating the rooms around the house & refinishing/reupholstering furniture. I watch a lot of HGTV and my mom and I even took an interior design course at the local community college. After the wedding maybe we'll sign up for another class. And hopefully FI and I will have our own house by then so we'll have a whole place to renovate and decorate!

I also coach my 6 year old niece's soccer team with my sister-in-law which is a lot of fun.

And I'm hoping to start working with my cousin's wedding planning company! I think I'm going to help with DOC for two weddings on April 6 and see how it goes. I work full time already and don't have any immediate plans of quitting my job, but since weddings are mostly weekends I'm going to try it out and if I like it see if I can fit it in my schedule.

  • We met on our colleges track team..So that was a huge part of what we would do/ talk about etc.. Esp. because track didnt allow me to cook or do activities that I wanted. Now that im done (he is still competeing on his own) I like to hike, try to run (recovering from a fractured foot), lift weights, cook (eventhough fi is picky, I try to jazz things up a little). I also love to look at wedding stuff and figure things out. Im a planner, not by profession, but I love the feeling of getting stuff done fast, and right.

Post wedding, we are hoping FI finds his dream coaching job! Then when he does, I will go back to school, either for a masters or a teaching credential! I cant decide! We also wanna work on student loans, and keep having fun and going out to bars and clubs and such.

Right now, Im working at European wax centers front desk which isnt the job I want (mostly because pay + it doesnt use my degree+ its not fulltime). But Im going to stick with it because I can take days off without notice so thats perfect so I can home at any given moment to do wedding stuff!
  • With school, work, and wedding planning I don't have a whole heck of a lot of free time. I watch are Criminal Minds and Doctor Who and I could only get Criminal Minds with the TV package I had so I cancelled my TV recently. I watch new episodes online when they are available and I watch old epidsodes of Doctor Who on Netflix almost everyday. I can't get enough of that show.
When I have time I like to read or write. Mostly I just mess around on the internet for a bit.
We also try to get to the gym a couple times a week.

We used to go hiking a lot before we got engaged but the weather was also a little nicer around that time. Summer went by fast then the rain came and hiking isn't as tempting in the rain.
We used to go to the movies a lot but we are cutting back on activities like that to save for the wedding and honeymoon.
When we get back from our honeymoon we will be moving. Hopefully to an area where we can actually walk to places or I could walk to work. The place I'm at right now is surrounded by freeway and military bases so it takes four hours to walk into town. NO THANKS!

  • We have a 3 year old son, so when I'm not working, I'm spending time with him.

    Post wedding? The same.

    Boring, but yet so precious.
