So, before I found TK, I spent a lot of time on the Yahoo! Answers dog community. It was right before and after the time I got Anya. While there I talked to a woman who's dog was taken away for being an "illegal type", named Hooch, but she eventually got him back after it was determined he wasn't a banned breed. Hooch's owner pointed some of us to the direction of Caroline Barnes, a vet assistant who's dog Lennox had just been confiscated by Belfast City Council for being an "illegal type" due to some measurements they took with a dressmaker's tape. There had never been any reports against the dog and he served as a companion for Caroline's disabled daughter, Brooke. He had been registered every year for 5 years prior as a Labrador-American Bulldog cross.
I've followed this story closely for two years. The first court hearing, the appeal, the sentencing appeal. The battle on both sides with the media. I, as tens of thousands of supporters around the world, have gone through emotional ups and downs, letter writing, candlelit vigils, for this poor dog. Victoria Stilwell even got involved and offered to rehome the dog to America on her own dime. After all this time, you can't help but get emotionally attached to someone (or somepup).
Well, my buddy Lennox died today. He hadn't been held by his family in over two years.
RIP, little buddy.
Well, I guess that crosses Northern Ireland off of the "where should we honeymoon?" list.
