Resizing pictures?

I was trying to post a wedding pic on my college's alumni site last night and the pic was too big. It had to be 4 mb or under and it was 6. something. I want to use a pro shot....is there any way to get it smaller? I have 8 CDs that pics are on, as well as 2 DVDs. I used the pic from the DVD, since the mb was smaller. Anyone have any idea what I'm talking about or advice? I'm so technologically impaired. :-/

If you have access to photoshop, there is a feature under the file menu that says "Save for Web..."  This will compress the picture for you while keeping the integrity specifically for posting to websites (hence the title).  I'm not sure about other programs or ways.

Email it over and I can resize it in 5 minutes!Or, do you have photoshop?

This is also really easy to do with a program like Picasa.  Let me know if you need instructions

Aw, crap, I tried to save it to my computer from an email attachment, but it's too large. I'll have to email it from home. Or maybe instead of putting it on the site, I'll just email the one lady with the announcement, though I'm sure the pic will still come out too large. *sigh*

Is it a picture you have on FB?  I think that might make the image small enough to e-mail, maybe?

No, I don't have it on FB yet. But maybe if I put it there, then save it to my comp it will be small enough? I guess I know what I'll be doing with my night, haha.
