July 2013 Weddings

NEW MEMBER!

My fiance and I are planning a small family ceremony in VA beach this July.
Its only going to be our grandparents, parents, sibling, neices and our child. We are planning to have a reception later in the year of 2014.
I was wondering if anything had any advice on having a wedding out of state and on the beach. Any tips or tricks?

Re: NEW MEMBER!

  • Congratulations and welcome! Sorry I don't have any advice for you, but I know there are quite a few brides here that are planning from out of state, so they might be able to assist.
  • Welcome!! I moved from Central PA(hey!!) to CA and I already had most of my planning done before we moved. Since we've been here I've had to book some vendors and I just read reviews and did a lot of emailing. I stay really organized with all of my list and I've doubled checked things a million times. I also get friends and family to help me out back in PA.

You can always check with vendors in PA to see if any of them will travel with you. I had a friend get her vendors in York, PA and they went with her to Ocean City. You may have to pay a little more for them to travel with you, but at least you can meet in person with them.

  • Welcome! My BFF (and bridesmaid) got married on VA Beach in 2008. I wasn't able to attend, but the pictures were gorgeous! :)
  • Hey!! I am doing both actually right now. We live in Virginia and are getting married on the a beach outside of Charleston, SC. We are doing a small ceremony like you expecting no more than 50 people closest friends and family. Our reception is utilizing a restaurant we love that provides both space for the reception and their menu. We are bringing a photographer from Virginia Beach with us. One of our friends will be doing the ceremony. Outside of that, we have been researching like crazy these vendors. We are going down in about a month for our only visit since we decided to have the wedding there. So my suggestion is research, research, research... when you find someone you like and click with work with them.
  • Im not getting married at the beach, but Im planning mine from Virginia, to Ohio. I have had to do a lot of emails, and a couple visits, and relying on the internet for everything. But, it would be the same I think if I got married at the beach, I would research everything and anything for that area, to do my wedding. Caterer and venue, Its hard, Lord knows, Ive had to do alot for my wedding, but know it will be all worth it.

Planning a wedding in a different state is hard work! haha we got a hold of a company that holds weddings and set everything up! We also booked our hotel! Our family is in the process of booking thiers! Im so excited! We went the other day to pick out our wedding bands and all thats left to do is my dress and figure out my fiance and the bridal party (my sister and brother are going to stand beside me and his two brothers are going to stand beside him! and our son will be in the middle of us!) are wearing ! Any ideas of Wedding Beach Wear? He doesnt want to wear a Tux or a Suit because he said they look out of place but i still want to wear a dress!
