July 13 or 27, which will be cooler

I am doing an outdoor wedding and reception at Casa Romantica. The ceremony site over looks the ocean so you get a nice breeze but there is no shade. I have to choose between July 13 or 27 of 2013, do you think one of these days will be cooler. Or do you think it will be to hot in July. By the way this is in southern California. If anyone has been to an outdoor wedding in southern California during summer let me know how the weather was.

Re: July 13 or 27, which will be cooler

  • I think the closer you get to August the hotter it is going to be. I know in my area, the end of July and beginning of August is the hottest part of summer.
  • I found the average temperatures for those days in Santa Ana (it was the closest city I could find averages for.)

July 13th: The temperature typically varies from 65°F to 77°F and is rarely below 62°F or above 83°F.

July 27th: The temperature typically varies from 66°F to 78°F and is rarely below 62°F or above 83°F.

It appears they average around the same temperature. I feel like those aren't very accurate temperatures, however, I know nothing of California. Where I'm from it doesn't stop raining until July then it gets really hot towards the end of July and through August.
Temperatures also depend on the time of day. Anywhere between noon and 3pm will be HOT!

You may want to think about setting up canopies or umbrellas. I know I wouldn't want to sit in the hot sun for an extended period of time without some kind of shade.

Same for my area. We have part of our space tented so Im not worried much. Days are long and nights are warm, thats why I picked the 27.

  • No doubt go with the 13th.  It is much hotter the closer you get to August.  I am an August 1st baby and it has always been upper 90's to 115 in my area before on my birthday.  Early July I find it to be less humid so the heat doesn't bother one as much.  I would set  up umbrellas or canopies or something too.  No one wants to sit in the glarring sun for an hour.  I recently had to do it in May in 80 degree weather and there were alot of hot bodies around us.

  • I am trying to figure out my wedding date and need to know if anyone has been to a summer wedding outside in Southern California, was it too hot? I am getting married next to the ocean so you do get a nice breeze. Please let me know if you have done this or have been to a wedding outside during summer. I am looking into July, but i dont want it to be to hot for my guest.
