Who's doing programs?

So in an effort to cut down on costs I was thinking of foregoing programs all together..then I saw this on Pinterest:

We're having a full Catholic mass..is it required that I do programs?? (which would end up booklet style, that I've already tried to diy miserably).

Or can I ixnay the programs OORRRR...do one or 2 big boards in front of the pews?

Re: Who's doing programs?

  • I just told my mom last night I am not doing program. I was doing the program fan, but its a waste of paper & get tossed. I personally keep invites & STDs, but not programs. She was hell bent on this, saying she keeps them (she does) and would like to have one. However, I put my foot down and said no. I'm also not doing menu cards, but one big menu for the buffet. The only reason I'm doing escort cards are because I'm getting 250 business card from VP & use them in 5 different ways.

  • I was thinking fans, but we have soo much information I don't think it would fit. Plus, the air will be on in the church, so fans are pointless...

  • I like the idea of having one or 2 posters in few of the pew or maybe one by the guestbook once people enter.

  • We're doing fans since we will be on the beach in *hopefully* sunny and warm weather! We are having a relatively quick service but I think the fans will go to great use!

I don't think that programs are necessary but have been at every wedding I've attended...
  • We aren't doing programs because we are going to be outside the entire time and I don't want people to just toss them on the ground and have extra trash to pick up. Plus it is extra money that I don't want to spend.

  • if catholic wedding a program would be good so pple know when to stand and sit
  • Generally they're not required, but they are a nice gesture, especially for a longer service like a Catholic mass.

Personally I'm planning on doing simple paddle fan programs since we're having the ceremony outdoors.

  • I have been to a few Cathoic weddings that were full mass and as a non-Catholic, I depended on the program to know when to sit/stand and what was coming next.

We'll probably do them, but I'll definitely be DIYing and they'll be very simple. I like having a program when I go to weddings. It's good reading material while waiting for the ceremony to start.

</div><div>Ditto to this! Plus our ceremony will be very short, so there wouldn't be a whole lot of into to put on our program anyway.

  • I don't really see a need for programs and wasn't planning on having them. BUT our ceremony will be outside & very untraditional for our families (whom are all accustomed to traditional christian ceremonies)- so we are going to do the program fan, which will also have directions to our reception location, about 20 min. away...  And they will be DIY

  • I don't think we're going to do programs. We will probably get fans since we're having an outdoor wedding so there's a chance we might do the fan programs but I don't think they're necessary for a short ceremony.

Since you're having a full catholic mass it would be nice for your guests to have something to follow along with.
