I need some knottie power!

FH and I just called the hotel that works with our venue for shuttle service to and from the reception and the woman (who was EXTREMELY rude by the way) said another bride from another one of their "partnering venues" called and booked her block YESTERDAY for the exact same night. Given the large amount of rooms that we need, 20+, she has to "check their invintory to see if that's possible". Not to mention, even if it is possible, our shuttle service will probably be screwed up. I am going to cry! This hotel and the shuttle are the ENTIRE reason we booked the venue we did! I am so mad at myself because I have been putting off calling for weeks now and now it's really biting me in the butt. Please send your knottie wishes and prayers out for us that this works itself out. I'm really trying to stay Innocent but what I want to do is Yell and Cry.

Re: I need some knottie power!

  • Ooh I am so sorry that happened to you! If your venue has a good standing relationship with the hotel could you call them and ask them to help you work with the hotel to get your accomodations in order? I am sure the hotel benefits from the venue pairing, and I bet that there is something that can be done to satisfy all parties.

However, if your venue has promised the shuttle services, then you should get exactly what you agreed to in your contract. I'd review that and make sure the shuttle is set up. If the venue on suggested that you go with this hotel, you could always look into other hotels nearby and get quotes for your own shuttle service (not sure what you agreed to, so I thought I'd suggest this!). I looked at a venue where they partnered with a hotel and the hotel had a shuttle service, but I had to pay X amount for the shuttle service and we had to have X amount of rooms blocked.

Just remember to breathe, things will work out, it just might take more leg work than you first expected! :)

  • You'll figure it out :)

If this one doesn't work out, can you look into other nearby hotels with shuttle services instead?

  • Thanks girls! FH and I are working on and found hotels nearby who will do shuttles but they're 8 miles out of the reception venue and a good 30+ mins out from the church so they're not ideal. If the lady calls back and says she can't book the rooms we need, I'll be calling the coordinator at our venue and sic her on them. Our contract doesn't say anything about the shuttle service, but we picked the venue due to it's proximity to the hotel that offers shuttle service. My hometown is SUPER small and this is really the only hotel within a reasonable distance of the church and reception venue, it was just a bonus that it had the shuttle.
  • This is the reason why I booked 2 months ago with our hotel block. The lady even laughed at FI and said "you have over a year". I dont care! Id hate to be in a predicament like this.

Sending all my power to you hehe :)

Not that you should do this, but call pretending to be that bride and unbook that block lol (thats the mean bridezilla in me talking..Im done now)

Well, 8 miles isn't too terrible, but that does stink about the distance from the church. Will you be able to shuttle the guests from the church to the reception venue? (Probably so but just thought I would ask).

The venue I looked at was also located in a small little town and they didn't even have a hotel in the town. The closest one that provided a shuttle was 30+ minutes away and there was limited parking at the venue so guests pretty much had to use the shuttle.  I'm glad your venue sounds like it has a good coordinator. Hope it all works out for you!

  • If it turns out they do have rooms can you hire a private shuttle service?
