I had just started to lurk and post a few times when the Plus size board blew up, some of you may have heard about it, gah I am not interested in another repeat of that,  though I would be more surprised to see it on a month board as there isn't really a commom factor for someone to hate on here.

The plus sized board turned into a giant sh!tshow. 

The cliffnotes version:

Some posters got very cliquey and attached to each other.

Formed a FB group together.

Some pictures were stolen from their profiles and posted by malicious AEs.

Needed a board mod.

One person wanted to be mod and everyone rallied around her.

TK made someone else mod.

All hell broke loose.

People were incredibly nasty to the mod, called her obscene names and personally attacked her. This continued for a while until the mod eventually stepped down. A few people were banned and others just stopped posting. It is quiet or there now but it's an improvement. 

It was really a group of less than 6 posters probably but it gave the whole board a bad name.

Edit: oh, and there was a pretty legit sounding theory that one of the photo stealing "victims" was actually behind it.

I know I logged in one day and was psyched to see this new board, then I posted 3 times or so and everyone was just nasty, I left before I could see the rest, I've gone back once or twice but seems like it was ruined before it even hardly started, too bad.
I mean really I just wanted that resource and sounding board back before I had dress shopped so no real loss, but it is disheartening.

That's one reason I was leery (sp?) of a "September" group in FB.  This is enough of a group for me.  I don't want people knowing more than I want to tell them.  And another reason why I give constant reminders to people who have their pinterest posted in here, and have their full name AND cities!

Kelly - can't remember what AE stands for but it is basically someone who makes a false account to stir up drama and act like a jerk. Occasionally people do it if they have something personal to discuss they don't want associated with their main account. 

Someone suggested a FB group but I think it got shot down immediately for the reasons discussed.

I think someone asked if we wanted to make a FB group.  I don't think one was made though.  That I know of at least.  hmmmm.

I have noticed a fishy thing but I'm not sure if it's the same as what others think is fishy yet.

What I saw happen was the board was still new no one knew who anyone was yet, or at least it was new enough that many people showed up everyday.  A poster started a thread about can I find a place here even though I'm not plus size, some said yes, some no, then it quickly turned into attack mode.  Personally I left once it went completely cray-cray.

My feeling from the start was that this girl was making assumptions that plus size girls should accept her because we all hate out bodies too.  Her wording especially in later posts was not commiserating it was, hey fat chicks I don;t like my body you like yours less so maybe that will make me feel better in comparison, thats cool right?

It could have been a misconnect between her intenion and how her phrasing rubbed people the wrong way but it turns out it was someone tryign to stir the pot and mess with people.  I watched the insanity for a day or so, but I know that was kind of the first "fight thread" and it went on and on and on.

It was a lesson to be learned I suppose some of the posters had joined a Facebook group which opens too much personal info (IMO) and that was used terribly (actually I think this happened to a girl who used to post here) You never know who is behind the screen. I don't understand why people would spend the amount of time it takes to make fake profiles and follow people around on the internet to find things to hurt others but apparently that a thing and the knot is not immune to it.

I don't think it's necessary to keep it to PMs.

There is a newer poster whose posts are strange. There are a lot of reasons why this may be the case but it is just one more reason to think twice before posting anything here or any links that connect to your actual identity and practise basic internet safety. 

Kira - I hope you don't mind but nothing anyone was saying was really inflammatory so i thought this was easier than 100 PMs.
