Not ideal... dress pick up

My seamstress is amazing... fair priced and based on my first 2 fittings, she's doing a great job. But... I knew she'd be having her baby around the time I needed my dress done. I was supposed to have my final fitting and dress pick up today, but her husband called to let me know she was in the hospital. I assumed she was in labor and he said yes, they had a healthy child (amazing news), but she was having some issues with swelling or something and had to stay hospitalized for... an unknown time. My main concern obviously is that she's okay!!! The husband made it sound like she'd likely be out by the end of the weekend, but it's not official yet.

My wedding is 11 days away. Just wondering... how many days out are you picking up your dresses? I figured it'd be fine up to 5 days out. Any closer than that, I feel like I'll get too nervous! (at least if she's still in the hospital!!!)

I am picking mine up the day before! EEE!! But my final fitting is friday, and I have the option to pick it up whenever I want, but my house is already housing three suits, MOB dress, all 5 BM dresses, and honestly, they are well equipped to hang onto it.

If she has plenty of room, and you know it fits, and it is a safe place to be stored, there isn't much to worry about. I understand the concern of actually being able to get it on time, and if that's the biggest concern, then sure get it as soon as you can. But it has lasted this long without you keeping your watchful eye on it, it will survive and extra couple of days there too I'm sure. Good luck! Try and relax knowing your dress is safe and will get to you by your wedding

My final fitting (aka just trying it on to make sure everything is fine) is next Tuesday and then I pick up my dress the following Tuesday night which is a day and a half before we head up to the wedding.  As PP said, as long as it fits, I figure leave it there as long as possible, they are likely better equipt to hold onto it!!

As long as the dress is completely done, I think it's okay. I'm having my second fitting on the 4th, and then picking the dress up on the 11th. Wedding on the 14th.

I am picking my dress up two days before the wedding. I think you should be OK!

My dress will be picked up the day before the wedding.  You should be ok.  It's probably a good thing not to have it because more chances of it getting wrinkled stained and smelly!

I think it should be totally done, but this will be the first time trying it on since she had made a few additional alterations, so I was just a little nervous...

My dress shop said that their brides typically pick up the dress the day before the wedding, though they'll have it ready a week before.

I am picking mine up friday Sept 28 and wedding is Sept 30. that way I know nothing will happen to it and FI will not see it

LOL May be I am impatient but I picked up my dress on August 8th and my wedding is the 7th of September!
