RSVP date...?

I know this has been brought up a katrillion times, but I wanted to check with you guys... I'm about to order rsvp postcards and here's the dates...

Wedding is the 22nd. We'll be sending about July 20th-ish (around that date) and was planning on rsvp date to be August 18th. We need 3 weeks notice for the caterer and that would give me two weeks. to call people. It seems kind of far out though (5 weeks?!). Do you guys think I should change it to August 25?

Ugh... I will be SO happy when invites are DONE!

No, I think you should go with your current plan, I don't think that's an excessive amount of time. Plus, I think you'll be much less stressed out about the timing this way, no point in being stressed when you don't need to be!

I would push your RSVP date to the 25th.  It shouldn't take more than a week to follow up.  Even if 20-30 people don't rsvp, which is probably unlikely, you could call 5 per night and still be more than fine.

Our date is 9/15 & we're doing 8/24- our caterer just needed 2 weeks, so I figured a week would be plenty to track down any MIA responses.

Is one month out typical? My wedding is September 2 and I'm hoping to make the RSVP by date August 2.

I am also getting married on the 22nd and I used August 15th. I have to give the final head count two weeks before but I want to have enough time to chase the rude people down that did not RSVP. I know I want to be sure I have time and not be stressed at the end for the last minute items that come up.

My wedding is also September 22nd and I was just going to make everything simple by sending them out on or around July 22nd and the RSVP date August 22nd

My wedding is September 15th and my rsvp date is August 10th.  I wanted to make sure I had enough time and didnt want to rush ANYTHING.

If you will be getting help tracking people down, I'd push it back a week (i.e. FMIL promised to handle FI's family who doesn't reply since I don't know most of them, FI will handle his own friends and I just have to do my side).  If you will be doing it alone or need a head count for budgetary purposes I'd leave it.  Yeah it isn't a lot to call 5 people a night but getting 5 people to pick up and an immediate answer from 5 people a night seems like a lot to me since these are proabably your more flaky relatives/friends.  Personally, the head count is the biggest stress because food is about 80% of our budget and is totally driven by head count so I wish I could know our numbers NOW to know how much we need to save or if we can relax a little.  I'm sticking to 4 weeks before but right now I just want the RSVP date to be here.  If you have any of those sentiments going on, leave it.
