Cuff link wording

I am making cufflinks for our dads.  My dad will technically be from me in the wording and FFIL's from FI. 

For my dad's, I've seen cufflinks that say "She loved" (on one) "Me First" (on other).  I think I prefer the wording "I Loved Her First."  For some reason it sounds less possessive as if my dad doesn't want to give me away.  But I'm probably just overthinking it haha.

For FFIL, FI essentially wants to thank his dad for being a great role model of a husband.  However, the cufflinks are too small for that many words!  Anyone have a way of saying that in 4-6 words?  We are both racking our brains but totally stumped on how to succintly say that

why not simply put "his role model" on one and "his hero" on the other?.. or are you looking more for a quote/ saying like the ones on your dads? 

I think I loved her first and she loved me first  are both nice..

What about "Best Father" on one and "Best Husband" on the other?  He could explain in his card to his Dad what it means to him.

I think both sound posessive. Providing he's not against your marriage, maybe just do something more sweet? (and please dont take offenss to my comment of the possessiveness).

For your father's:
My Father  -  The Hero
She's Always - My Angel

For his father's:
Role   -    Model
My First     -      Best Friend

Something that shows your feelings about your father or his towards you. I dont think it should be about posession as you are your own wonderful self.

<div>Yeah my dad isn't opposed to the marriage.  I think it is cute in a way but does rub me a little like he's competing with my FI which I don't like.  IMO once you are married, you dad may be the first man you love, but your husband has to be the man you love that you put first....which no dad wants to hear haha.  I like your other suggestions too.  I'm going to have to think about this one.  And also play with how much I can fit on these cuff links</div>

Ok so FI and I discussed and I made some of the suggestions you ladies did and we were set on one but then I guess the brainstorm got his juices flowing because he came up with "You Set" on one and "The Bar" on the other.  I thought it was super cute that he came up with it and it is so true.  I spent some time with just his parents last summer when we lived with them and he was at work and his dad was telling me all the things he does for his mom.  Later when I was talking to FI about it I was like "uhhhh apparently your dad showed you how to treat your wife so I have high expectations now."

On my dad's I think I am going to skip the "loved her first" business and put "Love You" on one and "Way More" on the other.  When I was in college and would talk to my dad on the phone I always would say I love you before hanigng up and my dad would say Love you more.  Which then turned into me starting at "Love you more" and him saying "love you way more."  Because of this, our F-D dance is actually to Tim McGraw's My Little Girl because in the song he says his daughter says "Daddy, love you more."

I think you guys hit the nail on the head!!! A little brain storming and you both have something SO original.

And in these weeks leading up to the wedding, i'm emotional AHH so i teared up reading it. I think i'm losing my mind but anyway, congrats on picking the perfect sayings.

Thanks ladies!  I hear you on the emotional.  When my FI came up with that I teared haha.  I love when my guy's guy of a FI gets mushy out of the blue!

I wanted to get those cuff links for my father too but my parents are against gifts from the B&G since we are paying for our wedding pretty much ourselves. But anyways, I picked that song for my father/daughter dance specifically from a line in it like you did with your father/daughter dance.

Be the same freckle face kid that I knew

 I had a lot of freckles as a kid and I still do as an adult and it just hit me like a brick at that part.
