OOT Bag Ettiquette Question

So I just found out from my godmother (cousin, delivering the gifts during mass) that "a number of" my guests are staying at a different hotel from the one I booked my block at.  Frankly, I don't care where they stay and I happen to know they are paying more, but whatever.  I'm just wondering if I should prepare OOT bags for those not staying at the hotel I have blocked.  How would I give them the bags and how would I know who to give them too?

You don't have to, but in my case this same thing is happening and I already had bought all the materials for the OOT bags, so I want to make sure to give them away. If they are all at the same hotel, you can call their front desk and ask if you can drop them off. For some of my cousins and my brother, who are staying near the airport, I am just handing them over at the Rehearsal Dinner.

I guess I could call the other hotel--that's a good idea, N, thanks.Everything I have for the bags so far was free or nearly free, but I do have the quantity of free stuff sitting around.

Yea, definitely call first to find out if the front desk would give them out for you, since you didn't do a room block with them. Who knows...I remember that one post about hotels charging to give out the OOT bags. Better safe than sorry to check!

I don't mean to stound stingy, but I am only giving OOT bags to the guests at the hotel I reserved rooms at.  It is not my responsibilty to track down where each of the guests are staying.  I don't want to risk finding a group at one hotel and missing another group at some other hotel.

Julie-- Not stingy at all! I think you are doing the right thing. Only reason I am tracking folks down is that i already had the bags made. No use in wasting them!

Oh, that's not stingy Julie.  That's kind of what I was thinking--should I do it because now I know they are there or just say screw 'em.  since I don't have much invested in them, it's easy to say screw 'em.    But since know now that there are people staying at the other hotel, I wanted to see if I was "obligated" to still get them bags.

We drove them to a hotel where we didn't have a block and it was a PITA!  It was for DH's grandparents and aunt/uncle, so we still did it, but I wouldn't for other guests!

Only DHs parents booked under our block. When I called the two hotels where we had blocks to see how many rooms were booked (so that I could put the OOT bags together to drop off), the hotel told me one. They said that they couldn't get the bags to guests that weren't part of the block because there was no way to tell which guests were with the wedding. I figured that since the guests couldn't be bothered to use the blocks that I set up, that I didn't care about giving them the OOT bags. At this point, I was a little miffed with most of DHs family - they were driving me insane. Therefore, the only thing that we had bought for the bags at that point - popcorn from Pittsburgh Popcorn Company - made it's way into mine and DHs bellies. YUM!
