XP: Need your help! Reception ideas....

Ok as of right now I feel like my wedding is pretty traditional which is what I wanted for the most part. But I feel like I dont have a fun or unique aspect for my wedding. I dont have a photo booth (can't really afford it) or candy buffet, etc. I'm trying to think of fun ideas to incorporate into my wedding. I really dont have a theme, my colors are yellow, black and red as an accent (red roses). Can you please give me some suggestions?

  • Without deterring too far from traditional since that's what you want, I'd say focus on little touches of your and your FI's personality you can add.  A more personal cake topper to a traditional wedding cake, quick personal vows to add on top of traditional vows, pics of you and your FI placed in some areas of the reception (gift table, cake table, etc).  Favors could be something related to you and FI.  DIY projects always add a personal touch because no one else could have the exact same thing.  A fun garter (you can do this regardless of if you are having a toss, but guests will only see it if you toss it....we hope!).  A unique guest book wouldn't qualify as traditional necessarily but could be more practical...you could do a mad libs guest book related to you and FI or a picture frame with a mat for everyone to sign (be sure to put a copy of a picture in it so people sign it the right way and add a personal touch...but make it a cheap copy in case someone slips with the marker).  That's off the top of my head HTH!
  • You could do something fun for place cards or seating chart. I saw this idea and just loved it - it's super simple and totally cute:

It's not too "out there" but very fun :)
Very easy to fit any colour scheme too.

  • I personally love the Madlibs that you see a lot more now at weddings :)
