OOT bags question

Hey ladies,  I mentioned doing OOT bags to my mother last weekend and she's liek WHAT?  Are you kidding me?  I've never heard of such a thing.  In all honesty I never had either until I came on here.  We've been to abotu 5 OOT weddings in the past few years  and have never received one.  However, I think it's a good idea, and since we live in MD and a lot of our guests will be from MD driving up to Pittsburgh I think it would be nice.  What things should I put in them?  I have some ideas, but does anyone have any ideas for cool, cute things that are cheap or nearly free?  What did you put in your OOT bags?  Does everyone have these nowadays?    I saw in a post below where COlleen said she got most things free.  Any help would be much appreciated!TIA!

N, where did you get the Heinz pickle pins?

I had them, but I definitely don't think they are necessary, nor that everyone does them. I didn't put anything fancy in mine- just some snacks and bottled water. I did include a welcome letter with a list of restaurants and pharmacies in the area, which I think is important. It just depends on your guest list and area I think. Our wedding and the hotel was not downtown, and the guests that stayed were only going to be there 1 night, so we didn't feel we needed a lot of tourist info. HTH!

I'm doing them because most of our guests our OOT and driving from MA (about 10 hours) so it's one of those little hospitality things that will make everyone feel welcome.  The actual bags were free (leftover from work) and I've got:Welcome LetterFree brochures from Visit PittsburghFree brochures from Station Squarelittle packets of Motrin and Tylenol (also free from work--we aren't allowed to dispense it anymore, so I snagged it for my bags)Heinz Ketchup pins (I bought the bag of 72 for $20--it's the only thing I've spent money on so far)I intend to add bottle water, mini clark bars and boxes of Boston Baked Beans candy, maybe 100 calorie packs, and an assortment of other snacks.  I just haven't bought them yet since I'm far enough out.

Thanks for the ideas!  They sound great...we've been looking for something MD to put in there too, since we live here and FI is from here, and whoever mentioned the Utz Crab chips...great idea!

No problem on the crab chips! I ordered them straight from the Utz website. The sell boxes of 60 individual packs of chips (like for vending machines). You can choose your flavors.
