Mine is coming up at the end of June!  The 24th to be exact.  My sisters and FMIL are planning everything.  I am obsessed with drinking tea and I know it has a tea theme.  The invitation they sent out has these antique tea pots on them!  I looved the idea and it was so thoughtful of them to make it so personalized...that's all the info I know though. There are 43 names on the guest list but I have no idea who has responded yet.  Oh and my FMIL is hosting it at her beautiful house.  I'm so excited but I don't want to wish the time away bc it'll be here and gone before you know it!

I understand your control-freakishness! (because I contain this lovely quality as well!)

But honestly it is more work than you need to stress about so I would try and cool it and focus on something else.

My aunts and a couple bridesmaids are "hosting" it and it is being held at a restaurant right on the beach!  

We didn't want to have to worry about anyone cooking, or catering would cost more than a restaurant...and the clean up is something I didn't want anyone to worry about. So I did make the call of having it at a restaurant so that everyone can enjoy it.

IDK about "themes" but I know the favors are succulents! and I sent a guest list of about 40, but in reality maaaayyybe 30 will show.

Are y'all having one? Yes. 3 Actually (not including the work shower that I've caught wind of lol)

When? I had 2 in May and the other will be at the cottage this summer.

By splitting the showers by location (one in the city and one in my hometown) we were able to use our homes instead of another location which was nice. It also helped each shower be a bit more intimate. So the first was at my house, the second at my parents' house and the third will be at the cottage.

Any Themes?

How many people are you expecting?

The first shower had about 15 people present and the second had about 20. The one at the cottage will have another 20 or so.

Yep, it's tomorrow!  I'm not a huge fan of old-fashioned showers.  Ya know, where the bride sits in a chair and opens the gifts in front of everyone BUT my mom is, so this is the only "shower" we're having.  There are two more parties planned for us later on.  One is a Luau theme and the other is a pool party for us and the bridal party.

I'm also controlling like you and I had to let those tendencies go.  It's been so nice not having to worry about what needs to be done.  Trust your friends and family and let them host for you.  If they ask for advice/suggestions, help them out but other than that let them take the lead.

How many people are you expecting? i have like 30-35 on the guest list but i know some of them wont come. i'd say maybe 20-25.

Ok ...I'm "safe" to post on here as Megg is only on the FB page! I have been dyig to show her invite and get some feedback. Her shower is being hosted by her two best friends (co MOH's) and my two sisters. The guest list is big (expectig about 55 people!) as she will only have one shower and it is being held in our hometown in the family Life Center of our church. The "theme" of the party is to "shower" her with love and wishes. Her girls wanted something that made sense for the gift they are giving her.... a day at the spa!! 

We are an English family and actually host a lot of tea parties, so her only request was that it NOT be a tea! She said because we do them all the time, for her it wouldn't be that special. So it will just be veggie/cheese trays, chicken salad or shaved ham/cheese on rolls, other snacky type stuff, and her cake will be in the shape of/look like the bride in tub on the invitation! The decorations are going to be opaque ballons in clusters so they look like bubbles. Sorry for the run on.... can you tell I'm excited! LOL Here is a pictue of the front and back of the postcard invitations.

ETA: Not sure why it doesn't show it but the bride is wearing a veil and the bubbles on the inside of the "frame" aren't there either.

Yes, I am sure I'm only having one shower since FI's mom and sister are traveling from Ohio for it. My MOH and SIL are hosting it.

10-15... I know the vast majority of FI's family won't come because they're in Ohio.

For my NY shower my girls and mom finally realized they could not surprise me so they asked would I really wanted and I picked. As for the planning I know nothing else, kinda looking forward to a surprise. For my MA shower my mother-in-law is planning and I know nothing.

Any Themes? Yes! My theme is "something blue". Since I couldn't really think of something unique for my something blue I researched themes for bridal showers and viola! I really love my theme, all the decor will be blue, I will have blue velvet cupcakes and I'm asking all my guests to wear 'something blue". I wonder what else my girls are planning

I am having two, because my FMIL wanted to feel special and throw her own. Hers is in July and my mom is throwing the other in Aug.

My FMIL is having it at my FI's firehall, which is where she throws every party because its free. My mom is having it at a resturant.

My mom is just having a simple normal luncheon, but my FMIL has once again beaten my vintage country theme to death and has bought piles of useless stupid crap to "decorate" with. So apparently my shower matches the theme of my wedding.

My mom is expecting about 25 people. My FMIL thinks she is inviting the whole world, but I think she will get maybe 5-10 people to actually show up.

When? July 8th - I requested it be a Sunday so people could still get some beach time in on their weekend.

Where? Someone's home, renting out a venue? It's a surprise but I know that it isn't at someone's house because there was some confusion about booking the venue (my Mom secured the location but my BMs are doing everything else). 

Any Themes? No idea.

How many people are you expecting? The invite list was 35 and everyone is relatively local so I'd expect 20-25 will make it.  Plus the 4 bridesmaids.

How many people are you expecting? We invited 75 and about 60 ppl are coming - WOW!  I really didn't want a shower so i said if we were going to have one I only wanted ONE, I cut the list down a lot (we are inviting about 210 ppl to the wedding, and that was a tough cut too as my family is HUGE (mother is one of 7 and father was one of 10 so lots of aunts/uncles/cousins... we don't go out to second cousins in our family as it would be TOO MUCH!).  Given that, I am a little nervous about the 'gift opening' portion of the day as I don't want people to fall asleep - haha!!  I will try and go fast and be as entertaining as possible!!

I am having one shower on Sunday, July 22.  It is being hosted by my mom and aunts.  They host a shower for every cousin that gets married.

I believe it will be in a room at one of my aunts' church

No theme that I'm aware of.  I don't think they are that savvy

The invite list I gave my mom had 55-60 people on it, but I'm guessing 35 or so will be able to make it.

I'm having two showers, one in my hometown, and one in Chicago.  

My dad's sisters are throwing my hometown shower, and it will be at my parents house on July 21st.  I'm pretty in the dark about it, and aok with that - I've got enough other things to plan.  I know it will be at 1pm and the word 'luncheon' has been thrown around. I've also heard that the guest list is 20 people, local female relatives, friends of my mom, and my two close friends that live in the area.  

The shower in Chicago will be hosted by my FMIL.  Not sure when it's going to be, only that she's said she's going to throw one.  FI's brother is getting married in three weeks, so she's definitely got other things to focus on right now.  Guest list to the Chicago shower will likely be FI's female relatives and my local friends.  FMIL told me that it will be 'way better' than FSIL's shower that FSIL's family threw a few weeks ago.  Competitive much?  In their culture, it's usually seen as tacky for the groom's family to throw a shower, like it would be for a bride's mother to throw a shower in a lot of the US.  Traditionally, after the wedding the bride goes to live with the groom and his family, so for the groom's family to throw a shower would be like asking for gifts for themselves (or something). Anyway, I think it's sweet that she's throwing me a shower, especially since it's not their norm.

Mine is August 19. My MOH is throwing it and all she'll tell me is the date and time. I know there's a theme, I just don't know what it is. I'm 95% sure it's at a restaurant. I have a list of about 25 people I'm giving to her, but I'm only expecting between 15-20 to come.

Yes, having one thrown by my 5 amazing bridesmaids! August 10th- Friday night cocktail shower.. No opening gifts(display shower) .. No games.. At one of my favorite local restaurants. Well, all of the linens are deep purple. So I guess berry/ wine. Like I said, cocktail party. Inviting 70, expecting 40-50(lots of OOT guests)

My mom is throwing me one on July 22nd. It is a luncheon being held in the private room of a restaurant. No theme, but the decorations will be brightly colored flowers in mason jars. About 30-40 people expected, I can't wait!

1. I love everyone sharing their plans!  

2. So... I'm 26 and FI is 30.  We've been living together for 3+ years and are professional adults.  I sorta don't feel like I need a bridal shower BUT my best friend (who was in a similar place) has mentioned that she wishes she had let someone throw her one for the female cameraderie.  

That all being said, I think my MOH/sister is going to get together with my FMIL and they're going to do a tea party thing.  Not super original or crazy, probably at FMIL's house, but my sister is on a tight budget so I appreciate anything she might do.

That being said, I think my FMIL just wants me to meet all of her friends, many of whom are not coming to the wedding.  The only request I've made to my sister is that she explains to FMIL that if people are invited to the shower who aren't invited to the wedding, that I don't want to ask for gifts.  

Then again, it's June and my sis hasn't done anything, so maybe I won't have to worry about the shower thing at all!!
