So I am not posting this on etiquette, because I don't want to be torn to bits, but I am having an issue with how to word something on our invites.
We want people to feel free to come dressed in vintage attire. We're not having a costume party but our theme is vintage and we have plenty of friends who swing dance with us who dress the part for the various dances of the year. It's never a cheap-o costume you buy in a plastic snap-shut bag, but usually vintage repros or actual vintage pieces.
We are going as vintage as possible with the wedding party attire and our own attire, including accessories, without getting too cheesy. We have some friends who have already told us they plan on dressing to the nines in vintage wear. How do I communicate that this is encouraged on the invite? We don't want to come across as telling people what to wear, so I was thinking something along the lines of, "Vintage Attire Encouraged."
Do you think this would sound okay and not too pushy? Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks!
