In Response to Re: Honeymoons : That's awesome! When are you going? We leave to go on the 17th (getting married on the 15th) and we leave to come home on the 26th. 3 days in Banff and 4 days in Jasper. But we're flying into Spokane. Flying into Calgary was much more $$. So we're taking a 6-hour drive to Banff. There's no way I can do a beach for a week. Too boring, and I'd be burnt to a crisp. FI is looking at his travel books every day it seems. He's so pumped! I can't wait to take LOTS of pictures.

We're waiting for the winter, the horse drawn sleigh rides and the opportunity to ski were the major selling factors for me since I've never done either, and FI has never seen snow.  The photo ops are supposed to be pretty amazing year round.  We're just starting to plan it, so I'm definitely going to have to look at flying into Spokane instead of Calgary, that is a pretty expensive flight for us too, thanks for the tip!

We scuba dive, but we're not big beach people, and if we did tropical, we would have gone ahead and done it the week after the wedding.  The problem with that is while I do like to dive, I find it to be so exhausting, I couldn't handle being tired from a wedding, trying to destress AND go dive.
  • We are going to Barbados for 10 days!!!
We always travel via cruises so this is a new experience for us.

  • We're going to Belgium and the Netherlands for 10 days a month after the wedding. We didn't want to leave right away because we wanted time to decompress after the wedding and it is cheaper in October. We'll also be in Belgium for FH's birthday.

FH doens't really swim and we'd both get really bored hanging out at the beach. I had tried to push for Costa Rica initially, since there is so much to do, but beer and cycling won out.

  • My fiance and I are going to Maui! We are so excited. I can't wait to relax and decompress beach side. :D

  • We're going to Palm Springs (to chill by the pool & hike @ Joshua Tree) then Disneyland for a few days (staying @ Grand Californian)- just a 5-day mini-moon to relax & have fun & do stuff we like. We're planning a big-deal trip to New Zealand in Jan or Feb of 2013 and just wanted to get outta dodge right after the wedding.

San Francisco is a great idea! :D Crazy good restaurants. Lots of great stuff to see, including museums, "sights" like Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz (pretty fun, actually!), walking along the Embarcadero, plus really easy day jaunts to Napa or Sonoma or to see the redwoods. I lived in the Bay Area for awhile and really enjoyed it!
In Response to Re: Honeymoons : Well, My fiance has been there & I would love to see the bridge, go to the beach just sight see I guess. What are all the fun things to do up there? When does the fog come, in the morning? And if we go up there, will it ruin my time up there?
    Posted by melissasdwedding
The bridge is awesome, again unless there is fog, it can totally ruin the view and the walking.. but late Aug early Sept it should be fine... its usually the people that go in june and expect to be hot and its not..

Remember the beaches there arent super beachy, the water is cold and most of the beachs are kinda pebbly

The Pier 39 and the warf is really fun, the Marin headlands, Little Italy including the stinking rose *especially if you like Garlic*, Beach Blanket Babylon *Hilarious*, there are some good museums, you could always go down from the bridge to Sausalito on a bike its really pretty and u get a beautiful view of the bridge from across the water.

  • We are staying in a private casita on the beach in Todos Santos, Mexico but will be spending most of your time in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico which is about 30-45min from where we will be staying.  I am so excited I can't wait!  We are leaving the day after the wedding.  The wedding is the 15th and we are leaving for the HM on the 16th.  We will be there for 10 days coming back on the 25th.

  • All these honeymoons sound amazing. FI and I are going to the Poconos, staying at the Paradise Stream hotel. FI doesn't like to fly (big fear, even though he's never done it before) so we couldn't really go anywhere that involved flying, even though we both want to see Ireland. Also, money was another obstacle but at least we'll have a full week to ourselves and not have to worry about anything else.
