Good things happening!

So, good things are in the air-  

I applied for a job and was interviewed almost a month ago.  I got great feedback but they told me the process would take a while.  Today, I called to follow up and make sure that all my references were squared away, etc... and GOT OFFERED A JOB!!

Not just A job- THE job.  Like, the job I wanted when I started grad school.  Not and end job, but the job that gets me to where I want to eventually be.  The salary is great, it's 2 1/2 blocks away from my house and they want me to start Monday.

Oh! Even better! We've been putting off booking our honeymoon until I knew I could get the time off.  They told me today to take whatever time I needed and we would figure it out.  

Any other good things happening??

Today I finished my medical genetics training and ended 9 years of medical training (4 years of medical school, 3 years of pediatric residency and 2 years of genetics residency).  I have off a week and a half before I start my staff position.  So exciting but also extremely scary! Congrats on the job.  That is amazing!

I also had a great thing happen. I have been working on pursuing a BIG dream myself career/life wise. There is one man who is AMAZINGLY well known and high in the field. I went to a conference where I listened to him speak and had a chance to talk to him afterwards. While talking I explained to him exactly what about his research has me so passionate and what I want to do with it, to which he replied "I will do anything I can to support you in that". I was bouncing off the walls I was so happy!

And BMcLeod-  I got the interview that lead to this job through networking.  Somebody said, 'So, where do you want to go now," and they knew someone very high up in that organization, sent them a resume and BAM!!!  

Having someone on your team is pretty incredible!!!  Good luck!
